I don't think we talked about this one, Chevy l87, yeah that 0w20 thing, turns out dat dog don't hunt.

General Motors issued a massive safety recall and subsequent Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for 2021–2024 trucks and SUVs equipped with the 6.2L L87 V8 engine due to a risk of catastrophic engine failure. For affected vehicles that pass dealer inspection, the official fix requires switching from the factory 0W-20 to Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 full synthetic oil and replacing the oil cap. [1, 2, 3]

Key Recall and Oil Changes Facts:

• • The Problem: The factory 0W-20 specification was deemed too thin to maintain a sufficient oil film under extreme pressure and high loads, which led to metal-to-metal contact and connecting rod failures. [1, 2]
  • The Remedy: If your L87 engine passes inspection, the dealership will use 8 quarts of 0W-40. They will also install a new oil cap that clearly indicates the new viscosity so future mechanics know not to use 0W-20. [1, 2, 3]
  • The Approved Oil: GM dealers are specifically instructed to use Mobil 1 FS 0W-40. Be aware that not all 0W-40 oils are Dexos-approved, and sticking to this specific blend ensures your warranty is protected. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
  • Side Effects: Because thicker oil creates more internal drag, you may notice a minor drop in fuel efficiency, but it provides vital cushioning for potentially compromised engine bearing

Im ready to run it based on NOACK and piston cleanliness alone. Cannot wait to see a VOA. I wish we could see redline IIIH pistons, HPL, and some mobil 1 oils like ESP.

Oh puke, this makes the base model rumble bee more desirable then the high end?

The Ram 1500 Rumble Bee lineup features a 3.92 gear ratio for the base Rumble Bee and 392 models, while the high-performance SRT version utilizes a 3.55 gear ratio designed for higher top speeds

Yeah building the high end bee for high end speed, as if you will be driving 150 mph all over the place? So for those of us who are grown and reasonable, we get a 3.92 and you get the dog isht 3.55. Even on a drag strip take the 3.92, literally only going to benefit those prolonged 150mph cruises? I hate my 3.55's, hatum.

Been a pickup guy nearly my entire life, literally the top or top 2-3 improvements has been the coil back suspension, so popular RAM found a way to upgrade and put in 2500. test driving trucks in 2010 it was this feature that made me buy my RAM. Night and day difference, I could swear every manu would have gone coil back. But...

• Ford F-150: Primarily uses leaf springs for most standard models. However, the electric F-150 Lightning uses a rear independent suspension with coil-overs, and the high-performance F-150 Raptor features a 5-link rear setup with coil springs.
• Chevrolet/GMC Silverado & Sierra 1500: These trucks universally utilize traditional leaf springs in the rear.
• Toyota Tundra: Switched from leaf springs to a multi-link rear suspension using coil springs beginning with the 2022 redesign

Hit and miss, I thought thing would be as standard and auto transmission would be.

Burlas old Avi, lol.. I do have some love for the avi's, it suited my life style back then. The only thing wrong with my Avi was that it was a freak'n Chevy, and that's a problem. This was the car I won 13k lemon law case on, just sold it after that.

Posted in blackstone already but figured id share here to.

Heres the latest sample on my durango hemi. This was the third oil change. Oil was in service from 2500 miles To 4968 miles. The last short drain im doing. Flagged items are not an issue as mobil 1 esp x2 VOA i have shows oxidation and sulfation are essentially unchanged. My VOA showed identical sulfation and 38.8 oxidation vs 38.1 on this UOA. Viscosity drop due to fuel which suprised me. I didnt expect to see fuel dilution.
