Tailgate Issue

I have a 2017 1500 QC and yesterday, my tailgate lowered on it's own and it did it four times yesterday. We've got some snow and there is a lot of sand / grit getting thrown around, so I thought that might be the problem. Last night, I wiped down the latch assembly on both sides and sprayed a little WD-40 to see if that would help. This morning, after leaving the gym, the tailgate lowered again. I stopped and made sure it was latched thoroughly and I didn't get 500 feet when it did it again.

Any ideas before I take it to the dealership? The only thing I've done to the tailgate is install the DZ Assist.

That was happening to my 2015 right after I got it in April and took it to the dealer under warranty. They had it for a couple of days, but fixed the problem (at least so far anyway). They replaced all the latches. There is a thread on here somewhere discussing the problem. I'd take it in asap just for the safety factor.

I have an appt this afternoon. Hopefully, they won't have to keep it.

It is a quick warranty repair. There is no reason it should take a couple of days.

I just hope they don't try and say the DZ Assist caused the issue.

I figured out it's a short with the auto lock feature. I can unlock the doors while driving and then lock them and the tailgate will release.

It will also release when the auto lock features activates once I get up to speed.

The dealership installed the new latch. They originally told me they were going to have to order one and it would take at least 24 hours. They got me a rental car and about 3 hours later called me and said the truck was repaired. They apparently found a latch and got it installed.
