All of a sudden the tailgate will not latch. I cannot find an obstruction. There was a jack back there that may have slammed into the tailgate. It opened fine. On the drivers side I can get the latch to engage while open with my finger. But it will not engage to close. I tried lifting one end of the gate off of the hinge and then putting it back on but that dis not help. Anybody have an idea of whats wrong?

I sprayed the wnd with liquid wrench. I can only get the passenger side off. The drivers side is stuck. I tried plong and yanking. Tomorrow I may try a hammer.

I have the two way tailgate. If the computer doesn’t see all latches in their correct position it will not allow the release latch to function. ALL & I mean ALL switches/latches need to be soaked with WD40. If a switch is not in its correct position you cannot open the gate. I had a brand new 2021 & you had to SLAM it or the gate would lock out. Now I have a 2020 & it’s doing the same. Somewhere I read of a recall but know RAM I doubt it.
There should be as this is a common problem

Just a little tidbit for you,WD40 is not a lubricant,it's a Water Displacement formula #40 to be exact. You'd be better off using a good quality penetrating oil instead of WD40
