I remove my tailgate frequently so I can use ramps to drive a mower into it, but the old style metal straps were fussy and took a long time to put back on, especially because my tailgate is a little bent from years of hard use. So I ground down the pegs on the tailgate so the round end of a modern tailgate cable would hook in and drilled a hole in the side of the bed to bolt the oval side on.
