Thanks for the info. Mine recently started doing the same thing ('17 single cab 3500). My local dealership is crooked and unhelpful, so I figured I'd fix it myself.

Fortunately, I am almost done building my house and should bee parking in the garage within a month or two.

I guess I should check mine. My truck doesn't see much rain in Arizona so I won't know if they failed.
I had no idea mine had failed or that there was a problem until I found the buckets of water in my rear area... Just spoke to a guy yesterday at church and his 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 just started taking on water through failed vents as well.

I received the Replacement Vents today - Mopar Part Number: 68323649AB. I thought that there would be covers of some sort on the outer portion of the vents to protect the flaps and help divert water away but there were none on them nor can I find any additional part to order for them? Makes no sense to have the flaps exposed directly to the elements?

So do you feel the new part is improved in any way or is it the same thing in new condition?

Having replaced mine, the new parts are definitely an improvement.

It has a new style Seal for the Vent Exterior outer edges to the actual truck metal back and a "gutter" style lower on the interior lower side to catch water and drain outside. It is better than the old design but I think it could have had a cover for protection to help it be better.

I'm getting moisture under the speaker box on passenger side and wet floor covering in the storage compartment on the drivers side....no standing water, or "buckets" of water but definitely annoying...I just completed the rear seat fold-down mod so guess its time to replace these before they are too bad...

RamParts....whats the cost on these new ones?

Good to know, thanks all. I'll probably just order now and install the next time the seat is out...

I can’t recall exactly, but the post above is close to what I remember when I picked mine up from the dealer.

I never had standing water, but everything in the storage space under the drivers side back seat was wet, and every time it rained I would get a musty smell in the truck for a couple of days.

Hello everyone, we regret hearing that you are facing these concerns with your trucks. If at any point you decide to address this with your Ram dealer, please know that our team is just a private message away and more than willing to escalate a case on your behalf to a specialist for further support through that process.

Thanks Kathryn

Sadly my local dealership's service department is a place I don't want to take my truck. I'll start with saying that I flew 800 miles to buy a new truck after being lied to and scammed by the salesguys, including the manager. Of course sales & service are different departments, but it still stings.

Even the most basic things are a massive headache. One of my keys is defective - when it moves (like in your pocket) it locks and unlocks the door. Hold the keyring in your hand, shake it and the doors lock and unlock. I asked if I could make an appointment to shake my keys for them and was told they needed my truck for 4 hours. Of course they couldn't lend me a car or drive me to work because it's "not proven to be a warranty item". It's less expensive for me to buy a spare key and have a locksmith deal with it.

When the stereo failed, it took a half day appointment to convince them it would shut down and power up over and over again. Then another half day to do the swap. Again, no way to get to work that day. It would have been cheaper to buy a nice stereo and replace it myself. It "wasn't a proven warranty item" the first time, and there were no cars available the second time.

When the dealerships are crap, and make sure to inconvenience the owner as much as possible, it makes me stay away. Of course that's good for RAM because I won't be doing my other warranty recalls at the dealership (tailgate lock & steering so far) but I also won't be buying an extended warranty, or having them do oil changes, brakes, tires, etc.

I know there's nothing you can do about the problem, but be aware that Lithia in Grants Pass is costing RAM money and sales. Pass the word to the folks above you if you can.

So I read thru this thread weeks ago and ordered the new vents as a preventative on my 2013. Got them in last week, went to go install them after work today and found my vents are totally different. IMO they're a much better design than the "new improved" ones. They have louvers on the outside to divert water away and they have an extra seal on the outside of the vent. Ended up leaving the factory ones in since I never had a leak from them. The PN on the factory ones in my truck is 55055998AH. Pretty sure on the H but not positive.

Guess I have some extras if they start to leak in the future....111d0ba1de969bdcee3bde5d857c5bb4.jpg5e4a20df4a77e033db83054bbae749f5.jpg

Mine started leaking too. .. I've owned the truck just over 4 years, and purchased it brand new.. of course it's no longer under warranty and the everything seems to be falling apart. $500 at the dealership to replace the brake-light over the rear window. Dealership guy said it's a really common issue with Ram's. You'd think for what you spend on these things they would make them better!

All the third brake light needs is a new weather seal. $10 at Home Depot (if you don't already have some laying around) and 30 minutes of your time to replace.

I ordered an upgraded (thicker) gasket online for like $10. They come in both single or double side adhesive. Always be sure to clean the opening before installing the new gasket.

Wow, you should locate an independent shop to work with and never return to that dealer, they screwed you but good.

Add me to the list of water leaks from the flapper vent (or what ever you call it).
Added keylesss entry last week and noticed my carpet under the rear seat was soaked. Thoughti t was the rear stop light but it was not. Tore everything apart again and found it was leaking through the vent and around the edge. Ordered the new part number to see if that fixes it.

@RamPart3.9 How did you get the vents in and out if you don't mind me asking. Doen't look like much room between the cab and bed. Looks like you might have to bring them up from below?

Have to do my 3rd brake light on my 2015, have stained headliner corners.

My bed was off for body repair after an accident and my cabin vent on drivers side was missing 2/3 of the little covers. Body shop replaced both vents for me.

Luckily I never had water under the rear seat.
