When adjusting the speedometer, does that adjust the shift points?

I bought the truck with upgraded gear ratio, do I need to adjust that via the device or just leave gear ratio alone (not to sure the pros and cons of such)?

Does the Tazer write to the ECM OR PCM at all like a “flash” tune does to where the dealership COULD see and potential deny service? From what I read it seems like it just “unlocks” said features which I wouldn’t assume writes to the computer data files where it can be seen if undone, but then again if it changes speedometer not sure...

So I have a 2018 and it says you need the security bypass. Well if one was to buy the bypass from the sellers in this forum which taps in to OBD port, is the security bypass from Tazer still needed? If so, then it still has to go behind the radio and then what’s the point of the bypass harness for OBD sold here? Getting confused here. Wondering if I could just buy the OBD bypass and hook the Tazer right in to there without having to buy the security bypass from them that has to go behind the radio as well because I thought that was the whole reason for the OBD bypass to avoid having to go behind the radio? Or would the bypass module still have to be plugged in to OBD bypass? And if that’s the case then how would I keep the Tazer modules plugged in.....

Do you have the tazer? If not I'm pretty sure you can calibrate speedo for gears in alfaobd then you'd just need the bypass sold on this forum.

Not yet. Want to avoid a tuner.

Alfaobd is not a tuner. It is used via the ODB II port to change or adjust values or setting in your truck i.e. turn on DRLs, change splash screen setting, or adjust tire size.

the tazer is also not really a tuner. I think it does basically what you can do with alphaodb, but its setup it their own software design and you are limited to only what is in their software. Which means less chance of screwing things up because with their software its more of a "on" or "off" situation.

I have the tazer on my charger, but not my truck

Yes, adjusting the tire size to correct the speedometer will fix the shift points.
You can change the gear ratio number if you want, but not necessary.
It does not write to the pcm, it only changes values in the bcm. I suggest the AlfaOBD like the others, but if you were to go with the tazer, the bypass module that comes with it is all that is needed, as it serves the exact same purpose as the one that’s sold here.
Go with the alfaobd. It is more capable than the tazer. You would need the software ($49 google play store), an OBD interface (~$70 amazon), and the security bypass ($50 from M2mods), and an Android device (there’s a windows version if you don’t mind using a laptop).

Thanks guys!! Figured AlphaOBD would be considered a “tune” and void warranty. It doesn’t write or flash the PCM to where the dealership can tell if you restore the truck back to default OEM values? That’s my main concern leaving traces of me tampering with the computer..

Good to know that confirmation!

Hmmm upon further research I’m gonna opt out of Alfa OBD. I’ve messed with vehicle settings for decades and honestly prefer the plug and play method as I get older, so the simplicity of the Tazer even for much more $ makes more sense to my situation.

I was hoping to avoid installing the bypass module behind the radio, because then when I take it in to dealership I’ll have to rip the radio apart to remove that bypass module. So if the harness sold here is same thing, I could just see if I could buy Tazer without that bypass module and buy the harness from here and just plug the Tazer OBD tool in correct?

According to Z Auto themself, the Tazer Ram does NOT change shift points.

FYI

“The shift points will adjust automatically, but it's not something we directly control with the Tazer”

Well, yeah, in the sense that it’s not a tuner that changes the transmission tuning. The result of using the tazer to adjust the tire size to correct the speedometer is that the transmission will go back to shifting like it did with the factory sized tires it was originally programmed to recognize.

Was under the impression people were saying it’ll change shift points. You’re right overlooked that concept, too much going on lately hah thanks. Looking forward to it tomorrow.
