text feature

I have a 17 1500 with the 4.2 screen radio and was wondering about the text
feature that shows on the screen, does anyone know how and if it works

I know you have to repair the phone after alot of updates ,and somewhere in the manual I think it tells how to do it! I also have to redo mine, I did find these and You Tube has a few DIY videos hope this helps.
