It never hurts, but you may as well wait and see if you get any dimming of the lights when the bass hits before you worry. If you need details, youtube has more details than we could ever type; it got me enough info to tackle it myself.
Just like we talked about with yer amp, electricity flows from - to + and the factory grounds are often of wimpy gauge so doing this allows the electrical system to function at its peak. Kinda like upgrading the intake over stock. Stock works, upgrade is better.

Basically you change some wires on your alternator and battery to 0 gauge power wire for more electrical current.

I haven't done the upgrade on the Alternator, but I have 1/0 gauge upgrade on the battery. I think if you do any kind of larger amplifier install, a minimum should be the battery upgrade.

Ive done it to both my trucks makes a big difference when u have 1000 rms watts pulling on those little wires. Before i did it you could fill the wires getting hot from the amps pulling so much power. Alot of people will tell you it doesn't help. If you have alot of power demand you need the big 3

I'll be doing it on mine along with a 250 amp alternator and XS power battery.
Beefing up your electrical system is never a bad thing.
