I bought a set of lug nutz off ebay years ago after finding out about the possibility of the factory ones distorting/swelling up...well I wasn't waiting around for that to happen to me.dunno the brand but they weren't expensive and have been trouble free now for years and probably 12-15 rotation, brake work and a 2nd set of tires, personally have done about 10 of those changes....air gun off and air gun snug on followed up with a torque wrench.still perfect

A customer of mine.... he's a pretty conservative dude, the LAST person I would expect to get an EV. He commutes like 30 miles a day. Anyway he's always had bigger pickups, 2500-ish. He ditched it quite a while ago and bought an EV. His first one was a Leaf. That alone stunned me! But he loves it and that stunned me too. I forget what his last EV was. For commuting he says they make a lot of sense. And about 2 yrs later his work put in a couple chargers, which he uses a lot. I think he said the company pays for the electricity too.

I've rented several different EV's though I don't own one. If ya drive up and over mountains you get back almost all yer energy on the way down. I've driven them in desert CA for a few days, I didn't really see much degradation. But maybe i wasn't there long enough. They go like he// for sure! And vehicles which have paddle or toggle switches on the steering wheel are fun to drive.

One negative is driving in wet snow with a 2-motor Tesla was the scariest and most white knuckle drive I've ever had. And I grew up driving rear wheel drive cars in the countryside. 1) The tires are wide. 2) The throttle is 'instant' and super-easy to break traction in wet snow. 3) The regen braking is difficult to adjust if you don't know the car well, and the regen braking can lock up the rear wheels (or at least break traction) when ya let up off the throttle. I think there's a snow mode, but like everything Tesla you gotta hunt through the menu too get it. In my opinion, the lack of controls on a Tesla is downright dangerous. They make a decent car, but I would avoid a Tesla due to lack of controls. But the seats in ones I've drivenn were the most comfortable I've ever sat/driven in! And I've driven a lot of nice cars over the yrs.

But sticking to the Ram for now.
I have a friend with a leaf. For a while they were leasing super cheap. He got one on a lease where his total payment with taxes and everything is like $160 a month and he charges at work for free. He is saving a ton on commuting.

The leaf second gen is WAY better than the first, more range and the heat pump became standard. The leaf is basically the electric version of “I want an appliance to go from A to B so I bought a Corolla” but you get the zippy electric torque.

This thread has mostly drifted far from a lugnut discussion (props to Hardracer and Jeepwalker for trying to bring it back). Bring it back, or take the EV discussion to a new thread (we don't have enough of THOSE yet, do we LOL!!!!!)?

A ha, Billy Mitchell plane, LOL. Did not think it was a Liberator. Not been in any of the old stuff, maybe one of these times need to go to one of the shows: Would like to catch a ride in a B-17 or something similar. Be a nice life experience. They want way too much for Jets or the B-29.

Been in and Rode in:
C-130 late 80's model
C-141 A
C-141 B
C-5A
C-5B
C-9 Nightingale config
UH-1 (rappelled outta the *** ***)
CH-47D model I think
C-12 Sherpa
(No Death Hawks for me).
The B-25 has always been one of my favorites, mostly because of the planes history in WWII (first US offensive action in the Pacific, Doolittle raid on Tokyo). Was lucky to get a flight in one at an air show here in Rochester.

For my next ride I'd like a B-17.

That's impressive ride list you've got yourself.

Best regards,
Dusty

U mean a steel lug that is painted chrome? Chrome plated? hmmmm. Gorilla have forged steel treated type, but U gonna pay.

MCGARD have them with chrome plated in sets of 4, but U gonna pay upwards of over $125.00 for 24.

BUT U would have to research and confirm exactly what lug nuts, style, part number, etc.,. and there are a kazillion different types.

I forget how much they cost, but I got the McGard. Five years in the north east and still holding up. I do use a breaker bar to start to take them off and usa a torque wrench to put them on. No air gun for me!

Thanks for the info.

I can get the factory versions at a discount, so maybe I will continue to look at replacements as a sacrificial item.
