2015 Ram 2500 Quad Cab 5.7 gas with 36’ TT (likely 9,000-9,500 lbs fully loaded). First trip across country in July (2022) from Atlanta to Idaho planned to see my wife’s family for a reunion. 2,000 miles one way. Hoping for 8 mpg - so likely have to keep it @ 55 mph. :-( I get 12.8 mpg as my daily driver and I am not easy on the go pedal. So 250 gallons @ hopefully only $4/gal = $1,000 one way. Plus my wife in the minivan with some of our five kids (since the truck only fits 6 - unless someone knows how to get 7 seat belts in a quad cab truck???). So 25 mpg is 80 gallons @ $4/gal is another $320. Total: $1,320, one way. That is why we are selling our house ASAP so we do not have a $1,700 mortgage while gone for a month. We agreed that if gas is over $5/gallon, then will likely cancel the trip.

Not likely a major change due to gas prices...just because I've got a lot to do at home. Needing a new front porch and putting up a pole barn is going to take some time.

The memories made on vacation are worth more than any increase in fuel prices.

just talking about this with her this morning. We had been planning our trips in the past few days. After her recent trip to the station, costing $71 in her little car, she is wondering how many trips with the TT should we take.
Tell her what he said!

Years from now, you won't remember how much you spent on fuel. But you will remember the trip!

Going to four Burning Man events this year with the last on being the Big Burn in Nevada. Fuel price will be a non-factor with these trips.

We get to Paradise in Mich UP on June 2nd, westward bound after that. Looking forward to the UP
Beautiful area up there. I owned a cabin up there right on Whitefish Bay but sold it end of last season. Cabin was only 2 season so I sold and will Travel Trailer up there, number of campgrounds in western U.P.

No planned changes. All our trips are booked and I'm not cancelling them at this point. Its unfortunate to have to spend more on fuel when it could be used for other things, but not enough to stop us from the family time, especially as this season could be our last camping one. The price of fuel does not outweigh the importance of that for us.

We need a “Camping 2022” thread with pics. Maybe whomever makes the first run can start it.

No it won't change my plans. But this year we didn't have any long distance plans anyway. Longest trip is 350 or so miles away. Our long vacation this year we were not planning to camp anyway but will be driving my wife's pacifica.

We have had one the last couple years.

Plenty never stop camping. Most already started. Our regular season opens here in PA 1st weekend in April at some campgrounds and the 2nd week at others. We head out for our first campground trip the 2nd week.

This year's.

If the gas price hurts, use a minivan and a tent trailer. (Seats 7).

The title says it all.

You you not go on a trip?

Will you stay closer to home?
Already got 3 outings (3 days each) booked for our shakedown 1st week of May (about 1300 miles total) , and planning a Blaine Washington to Michigan City Indiana (Mom) and then to Pueblo West Colorado. . . .before returning home via National Parks in Wyoming/Montana later in the summer. Actual mid summer still up in the air. We have averaged 9k+ hitch miles for the last 8 years.
It will move the bottom line, but not have any effects on travel!
We didn't buy a "Driveway Elephant"!
