My newest grandbaby will be here in two weeks, so that makes 3, so time for a CC...so trading in the RC probably this weekend. I know I plan to pull Extang trifold off and Bedrug as that wont matter to them, sadly it wont fit on the CC neither. But rather have it than the dealer!
Question, on the '14's around here, some (getting an Express again) have the 6 speed still, some have the 8....who's driven both and what are your thoughts?

Had to change my appt too, had it ready to go in Friday to get my Belltech 2/4 drop installed and Hellwig sway bars! So wont be needing them neither LOL

But ready for a CC, maybe lift this one!:favorites13:

I have not driven an 8spd, but it is the only '13+ feature I lust after. I don't know why a person would opt for a "6"spd when there is the 8?

My Express CC has the 6 speed. I think at the time the Black Express Package was only available with the 6 speed, but I think I recall someone posting that the 8 speed can now be obtained as an option. The problem is of course you will now have to search to find a dealer that actually has one with the 8 speed if you want a 14 now rather then ordering and waiting on a 15.

Personally, I have no problem with the 6 speed. It shifts smooth compared to some of the other Chrysler transmissions I've had over the years. The 6 speed in my wife's 2012 Jeep Liberty has also been trouble free so far.

I've driven the 6spd in a quad and have the 8spd in my crew. The 8spd really is the only way to go now. Mine's a 14 cc express 4x4.

Why won't your cover fit the CC? Your RC must have the 6'4" bed, right? You can get the 6'4" on the CC now, and if I had to do it over again I'd have gotten that instead of the 5'7".

The 6'4" is available however it is very hard to find one on a dealers lot let alone with the trim level and options you want.

Most definitely get the 8 speed! It's worth the extra $500!

The 6'4" bed is not an option on the express. It is hard to find on other models though. The dealers seem to think that nobody wants them. My dealer thought I was crazy when I asked for the "long bed" option...

Yes, dealers local have the 6 and 8 speed on all colors...so plan to drive both. Yea, if I get the CC I have to go with the shorter bed. I just prefer the shorter bed look over the 6'4" bed.
The 6' bed looks normal on a RC, but long on an already long cab.
Also have to decide, chrome clads or aluminum wheels. If I lift and do larger 4x4 tires, the chrome clads draw more resell value.

Thanks Morgan, from what I am gathering, 8 speed is the NEW way....what gears did you go with?

I've got the 8 speed in the Ram and Jeep and love it. Great transmission. I've got 3.92 gears, standard with the Outdoorsman.

Here's you a nice True Blue CC 8 speed at Barry Sanders. ;)

I have the 6 speed. The only reason I would opt for the 6 speed in a express is gear options. If I'm not mistake the only gear ratio available with the 8 speed express is the 3.21. You can get 3.92 with the 6 speed. Drive both and see witch fits you better.

But if you like that truck ask another dealer to buy it from his lot. I bought my True Blue CC from Fletcher in Joplin MO and they got it from a lot in Ada OK. It was there the next day for pickup.

I thought BS was great when I bought my Power Wagon but I got treated like crap when I called them up to order my Jeep. They acted like I was inconveniencing them with a factory order...

My wifes new Hyundai Sante Fe was good buying from them, then when it had issues, they acted like "oh well". I priced a Ram, I knew way more than the salesman. My son had oil change there since he got 6 free, and they put oil on his pan and on the floor, called him back and said "look, your pan is leaking, we can fix for $275...", he declined. Trust me, Id KNOW if it leaked oil in my driveway.
Won't go back there for a purchase.
John Vance in Guthrie was awesome, just Bob Howard has the one on the lot I want.

I bought my last two through Bob Moore in Tulsa. They are a great dealer. They actually have the twin to my truck, just in monotone with chrome bumpers...

8 speed with the bigger gears in the, rear.

Take some picks of your old rig before getting rid of it then put up some nee pics of the new rig.

Congrats (grand baby and all) and enjoy the car buying process. Make sure you get what you want.

That's a nice looking truck! Kind of wish is had lower gears, but 3.92s are almost impossible to find on dealer lots. After driving my truck with 3.92s, I don't think 3.21s would be a bad thing if you're not towing much weight. You'll spend a lot more time in 7th gear rolling up hills on the highway, but even my truck drops to 7th on the bigger hills. Good thing is, downshifts are quick and seamless with the 8 speed. If you didn't have a louder exhaust and ignored the tach, you wouldn't even notice the shift.
