I've been driving my 15 RAM 1500 Laramie for over 7 years. I bought it used and now she has close to 117k miles. It has a 6" lift rolling on 35's. I love my truck but the wife hates the lift... (That's one of the reasons I like it so much, cause she hates to drive it.) But she wants me to upgrade. So I just agreed to the purchased of a 22 Ram 1500 Limited, with the 3.0 diesel. Got a trade in value very close to what I would have received if I sold it outright. She has all of the bells and whistles I want, the diesel is a bonus. The only item it does not have is a trailer brake. I'll purchase and it myself. They've agreed to program it for me.

It's funny, I looked at the other brands, but kept coming back to the RAM line. When you know what you want / like, sometimes your just got to go for it. I don't pick it up till the weekend. I'll post pics of the upgrade.

I've already started researching add on mods... Tourneau cover, mud flaps, window visors... it's crazy to think about all the of the items you've added over the years. Things that you want on the new steed.

I hear that. A few months ago I traded my '19 Classic for a '22 5th gen. My first few mods were step bars, tonneau cover, bed liner, bed lights, and seat covers. That's the minimum I needed to add to make my truck fit my needs. Some mods on my last truck I didn't need to add because this truck already had them factory installed. When it get closer to summer I'll add a few more things. Congrats and enjoy your new toy.

Sounds like a nice rig. Post some pics when you get her back to your hacienda!

Congrats!!

Hey, most people leave and don't come back and give their feedback. If you would, please come back and give your 4th-gen vs 5th-gen feedback and impressions. Once you've been into it for a while.

Will do...

1st impressions.... the ride quality is sooooo good... Of course I came from a lifted truck on 35's (which I struggled to keep balanced). This truck is just so smooth. I need to watch my speed... it's too easy to go faster than you think you're going. The fit and finish is top notch. Still getting through everything setting it up the way I want it, and transferring of my "stuff" from old to new.

So far, ride quality is really good, fit / finish and attention to the little details are awesome. I came from a loaded Laramie to a Limited... yes the creature comfort features are better, but the build quality is just so good. So far I'm liking the little diesel. Yes it's not as quick off the line as a hemi truck... but it's no slouch either. So far I'm getting and average of 29 mpg, which I think will improve once she's broken in.

Here's how my '17 ED looks with similar mods. I had the lower rocker coating done. The only thing added since the pics was 3" chrome step tubes since I needed them after my 2 strokes a year ago. Not shown are the hot red brake calipers.

Started the mods last night... Installed a TruXsport soft tonneau cover. I had one on my 15 Ram 1500 for over 6 years. It still looked like new, so I decided to stick with the same brand. The new on did not disappoint me... extremely well made, tight fit and should keep my bed dry. I also added Husky mud flaps. Installation of the tonneau cover and mud flaps was pretty simple. I had both installs installs completed in under 90 minutes. Now looking at the next mod... the truck didn't come with a trailer brake controller. I will be adding a OEM unit, and once installed I take the truck to the dealer to program the unit. It's not that I "need" one... it's more like I want it so if I tow a trailer with brakes, I'll have the added security and stability with a OEM brake controller.

Sound like good mods. Is that a roll-up bed cover, or fold up? I hear you on the brake-controller. Some things you just 'want' to have... (me too)..lol
