Hope this is a good place to post this. Today at work we are little slow so the boss got some wood and had me redeck the work trailer we had many discussions on how to get the new wood back in. The old we just cut off. I've seen people go as far as cutting the back of the trailer off and weld it back on. We are a weld shop and can do that but sure seemed like a pain to me. I have also seen people put something in the middle of the board and bend it down, once again seemed to much of a pain and dangerous. So as we brain stormed one of my co workers (have to give him credit I wish I did think of this) had a brilliant idea and to cut a notch at the front of the trailer. We dropped the boards in place and slid them over into place and welded the 9 in wide piece back in place it was easy and not a pain in the but. I cut ours out with a plasma but a 4 in angle grinder with a cutting wheel would work just fine. And if you can't weld or don't have a welder I'm sure most people have a local welder that could weld it back in place fairly cheep. Well I hope this can help someone else.

We're gonna end up needing to do this to our trailer as well. Good job on getting the trailer back usable again. :waytogo:

Seems like you could also just put a bolt with a big washer thru the last board instead of welding the piece back. Then you'd never need to cut/weld again for that job.

That's a great idea. I thought about it but we had the welder sitting right there but that will definitely work for the guys without a welder. Great tip!

Nice, wish I would have thought of that last year when I did my flat bed. I cut the rear piece of angle iron off, then had to have it welded back on.

This is how we repair the rig mats we use, we leave a permanent notch in them because we destroy the 3"x8" boards fairly regularly.
