What type of tool box can I use with my short bed truck? The wheel wells get in the way with a regular type tool box. I was looking at getting a Weather Guard.

I went with the DEEZEE narrow plastic rail mounted. The number embossed on the inside of the lid is PN DZ6170P.
We were in our local Princess Awful store and I saw this box on the high top rack that looked interesting with a regular price at $249can. Told the wife I'd like them to bring it down for a closer look. She says why? That's the one over here for $75. Bonus...good wife.
I tell ya I should have bought all of them. Perfect size for the 5 foot truck bed and well made.
In the pics you can see the cylinder lock dust cover I added.
I also didn't like the way the 2 J-bolts provided only held it down with a flat, lock washer and nut in 1 location per side through the weaker flat portion of plastic. I cut a short length of 4" ABS pipe to fab 2 segments about 3 1/2" along the radius. Now the bolt clamps down on 2 stiffener ridges on the horizontal and vertical20190801_080611.jpg 20190801_115714.jpg 20190731_193628.jpg 20190731_193756.jpg planes.
I'm a very happy camper with this box.

Inside the box or outside the box? This is an in-box in a 5'7" bed

WeatherGuard still carry the premium price tag, but ARE NOT the boxes they once were! The welds are now stitched and sloppy at that. Corners and bends not crisp and true like the original boxes. I had many WeatherGuard boxes, several actually moved across trucks for 15+ years! Bought the latest of their premium boxes for my 2014 and was so SORELY disappointed with broken welds in 6 months time, black finish that looked terrible after one winter, and the last straw was losing $800 in tools because a thief was able to defeat the spendy push button lock like he owned it!

I now only spend that kind of money on American-made quality- Highway Products toolboxes!
