Hi

I want front tow hooks for a 2015 2500HD. I don't have much money so I was looking at used.OEM on ebay and they were pricey! Then I found new aftermarket ones that were about half the cost! I'll go out on a limb here to say they were probably manufactured in China or India but I have no proof of that. MY QUESTION: does anyone have experience with these aftermarket tow hooks? Are the good quality?

If you are actually going to use them get the OEM. I took mine off to put an winch bumper on. I sold them, including the mounting hardware, to a guy in Michigan for about 200 bucks U.S. shipped from Canada. check wreckers, 4x4 shops etc. You can find them pretty cheap if you look. Ebay is handy but rarely cheap. .20220624_120005.jpg20220624_115845.jpg

I bought some off Amazon,last fall for my 23 Classic.I am happy with them, very easy to install.I didn't even jack up the truck when I did it. THEY SEEM SOLID.I bought some bumper inserts to just speed things up a bit instead of cutting

Spend the extra and get the OEM Ram parts .

If one of these was to fail while under use , and lots of tension , the results could be catastrophic and or fatal.

A piece of tow hook or chain flying can penetrate glass a pretty quickly.

It’s better to get known products , then China maybe break and die.

Go OEM you do not know what kind of material these aftermarket ones are made with and its your life or someone elses on the line if one breaks under load.

RD - and 90% newbie posters follow this pattern of one or two posts and gone. Not even a thanks or how it worked out. They wonder why guys just pass over threads posted by new signups.

Do you think it's that high of incidence for the newbie post and gone behaviour?
It does appear to fluctuate in a random, unknown, cyclic fashion.

I like to give them all a chance before pre-judging their future participation.
You never know when the next go-getter might arrive.

Fair comment. I guess because the one and dones are so common, the newbies that become high contributing regulars get overshadowed.

My one comment, the ones that go on to become regulars, if you read their first few posts, those are generally materially different, more complete, better formulated questions. I still respond to first time posts, but only if they include the required information to help. I if I need to drag the pertinent details out of the OP, or it is something easy to find with a search, I now just skip those.

Agreed!

There are far too many who have zero reservations about asking the simple questions that any search engine will easily resolve.

I skip most of those, but sometimes enjoy using the following;
