Going on a 2,000 mile drive...towing my 6x12 trailer with two quads and a bed full of junk. Probably 3,000 lbs in total, so not that heavy of a load, but enough to drag the MPG down to ~12mpg.

It'll be fun. :)

From where to where? Many hills?
I wanna drive cross country again

West coast(ish) to east coast (ish). Primarly on the I40, so not specifically hilly, but the elevation change will be from 1,000 ft to 7,600 ft, back to 1,000 ft over the course of the drive.

OPSEC rules now, but I'll fill ya in on the origination and destination when it's complete.

Well - I'm "here." Trip was from Phoenix AZ to Lexington KY.

Three days (overall), 32.5 hours, 1,830 miles, 155.796 gallons of gas ($555.26), and an overall average of 11.74 MPG. The best part? Zero flats.

But, the bad news? Four million bugs. At least. Maybe five million.

Here's a pic about 800 miles in (still in the southwest - where there ain't many flying bugs). Is was far worse in person than in the pic.

Glad you made it safe!
It does seem pretty light for bugs though. 3 weeks ago my FIL's CEL came on on the way to camping. His air filter was SO clogged with grasshoppers the engine overheated & threw the light! LOL

Hope the trip back home is as uneventful.

Looks like fun. If you happen to wash it up there, buy you a roll of syran wrap.
You can at least cover the bumper (no air vents) and at night just peel off the days bugs and put on a fresh strip the next day.

That's a cool idea! I'll have to try it next trip.

There won't be a return trip - it was a one way'er. We moved from Phoenix AZ to KY. :)

Sounds like a great trip...

Another thing to try on long trips is a good wash, a good wax, then use painters tape to cover areas of interest.
