Don't know if anybody does anything with their electric fan for cooling between rounds, but I pull my high speed fan relay and use a 30A switch and fuse plugged into the relay receptacle to turn the fan on between rounds, and use one of these to keep it from killing the battery. not saying it's the best set-up,but it pulls a fair bit of heat out of the engine running the electric fan between rounds. Will turn your dash light on though,as it sets a cooling fan code, easily cleared at the end of the night with a Trinity or handheld code reader

So what exactly are you cooling besides the water in the radiator and the outside of the front part of the block? It may help to some degree but unless you run an electric water pump and efan setup at the same time between rounds, it is actually not as beneficial as you think.

Yea an electric water pump isn't feasible on a street truck, this is the next best thing,as it blows cool air across the intake .It brings the temps from 190/195 at the end of a pass down to under 170 by the time it's through staging again for the next pass.
You gotta be a little realistic Kotta,an electric water pump isn't feasible on a street driven Hemi truck.
I also usually spray the intake with a spray bottle filled with water to help pull the latent heat out of the composite intake. Cooling the block is good, but cooling the intake charge is better and by fogging a water mist on the manifold with the fan blowing cool air across the engine bay, makes a noticeable difference in my IAT's.
BTW I threw the ugly heat trapping piece of dress-up plastic on top of the intake in the garbage along time ago,lol

Well at my track I go to you CANNOT ice down or spray down your intake between rounds. They tend to get pissy if water gets on the track or someone forgets their ice bag. I understand the benefits of iats but again it's not that crucial unless you are going for every hundredth you can lol. Btw my last street driven truck had an electric water pump. Put 10,000 miles on it in a year before I blew the trans. No problem with it at all.

Our track is touchy too,but as I've shown the starter,i'm only spraying a light mist on the intake, that evaporates long before i'm at the line.By no stretch am I dumping a lot of water on the intake,it's only a mist from a spray bottle, but it helps pull heat out of the manifold. That's kinda of a dumb statement you made ,if you aren't going for every last hundredth, what the hell are you doing at the track then. The whole point of Friday night street drags is to see what you can get out of your toy.Saturday and Sunday are the days where you want to run your dial in numbers unless you're running in a heads up class.
I did close to 20 years of class racing, and figured if I made it through 3 rounds I was lucky, and at least got my gate fees back, but it gets old, when you have to be there every week-end so you don't give up points. These days I prefer Friday street drags,as i'm not locked into a points battle, and redlights don't count, lol

Dumb statement? First that's merely my opinion on every last hundredth you are looking for. I have raced many years as well and yet hundredths are VERY important in class racing it is not nearly as important TO ME in our 12-13 second trucks. Unless you are racing for points or out to get a national record I think it's kinda dumb to try and get every last hundredth out of these trucks. Don't get me wrong I do appreciate what racers do to get their vehicle faster but it's called an opinion. Lol

Yea i'm failing to see your point .What's the point of going to a track then.Once would be enough to tell you what the truck will run, after that if you're not trying to get more speed, why are you going?
You kinda make me shake my head at your statement,as it seems like a waste of time,if you're not trying to get more out of it.And that's an opinion to.
Did you come into the thread just to argue then?
Hell I could care less if you don't like the idea of cooling it off between rounds, but to bash the idea seems a bit unrealistic. Costs all of 5 bucks to put a switch and fuse together and run the fan between rounds,so why you decided it was useless is a little out there, and that there is another one of my opinions, lol
