So I've noticed this before on my wife's Grand Caravan, but never really noticed on my Ram (19 Classic) until the other day. When you hit the TC button to turn it off, it doesn't fully turn off the electronic nannies, because I was doing some light hooning and when the truck starts to yaw it kicks on the ABS to straighten it out.
Any way to turn this crap off fully aside from pulling a fuse or something?

Tuner/programmer, or pulling the fuse are your only options as far as I know.

ok. so i noticed this while off roading my power wagon.

I could turn off traction control. But hitting some slippery mud, with trenches cut out in the hole the truck would slide sideways, and the truck would instantly cut power, or use the ABS to slow down the slide.

And then i did a little test, which has worked on many other vehicles.....

If you start with the truck in drive, but NOT moving, and with traction control on.. Press and HOLD the traction control button. Eventually you will get a message that says cruise control un-available, and then ESC off.

So with this, you turn off the traction control, and then turn off the electronic stability control, which is what was messing me up off roading.

But like i said. If the truck is moving, no matter how long you gold the TC button, ESC will NOT turn off. This is also in my power wagon, so not entirely sure if it applies to 1500.

But post back and let us know. Cheaper than a tuner :):)

I don't think that works in the 1500's. You can do something similar with the Challenger Scatpack :) but not with the RAM 1500. Save for tuning to relax the traction control try toggling the tow switch to on with the traction control switch set to off.

There are three different modes in the traction & stability control system on our trucks.

First is Vehicle Stability Control. This one is active at all times in 2wd and 4H and works to try to prevent a roll-over. For example if you are going highway speeds and swerve to avoid debris in the road it uses selective braking and throttle reduction to try to keep you from spinning out or rolling over. On some but not all trucks it is possible to disable this by holding the traction control button.

Second is traction control. This one is active normally but can be deactivated by pressing the button in your dash. This acts mostly by reducing throttle input when your wheels are going different speeds from each other, to prevent spinning wheels when driving on icy roads or other slippery surfaces.

Third is BLD, which works to keep both wheels on each driven axle turning at the same speed. This one does not affect throttle input but does selectively clamp brakes when one wheel is spinning faster than the other wheel on the same axle. This one cannot be turned off with the traction control button.

Here's my modified OEM description of what this thread is talking about. I also modified the F26 fuse and made a mod to disable the F26 fuse on the fly, in any drive mode, and used a Home Link button to turn it on or off.

Does it come in a heart-wrapped box inside a fuzzy blanket? If so, you've got a sale! :D

Just curious, what year is i to our truck?
Wandering if the fuse boxes changed at some point? Mine is a 2012, 1500, and it’s the J6 and J7 fuses that are associated with traction control/ABS.

I believe the fuse box changed with the '13 model year update and if memory serves me correctly John's truck is a '16
