Does anyone actually get these things to hook on street tires? I've never driven something that refused to move off the line more than this truck. I made 12 passes last night at test and tune and my times were all over the place because it can't seem to not reduce my tires (or tire, rather) to little particles that are impossible to remove from my fender.

I know a locker is in order here but that's gotta wait for gears. But even on 305/50/20 street tires it couldn't grab. Anybody got experience with anything that works? Air down? Water bag? Caltracs?

Before anyone says it, yes I've considered drag radials, but the class Im starting in locally is street tire only. No DOT drags, must be "available for install at a tire center or chain "

I've ordered a new set of tires, 305/50/20 nitto nt 420.

I think I figured out why it's not hooking, when I bought it, the trac loc worked fine, both rear wheels spun and hooked. Now I've realized only the right rear is getting any power. I think I've burned up the clutches. It's locker time.

I bought the truck w/ open diff an 3.55s now has 4.56s an LSD. It launches noticeably better than with an open diff but now having 4.56s makes it still a task launching the truck, usually have to ease into it

So at the track you cant just smash the skinny pedal with your gears and lsd? Even after warming up the tires?

my truck also came with the open diff, so i bought an Auburn Limited slip. i have the stock 3:55 gears. i only spin on the street, but barely. At the track however, i do not spin with my set up. The LSD was for sure my best investment thus far, because putting the power to the ground is everything! hope this helps

I can't get this thing to hook for **** after the 4.56's & converter swap. Even trying to walk it from a dead stop doesn't help. That's with 305/50/20's on it too.

That's what I'm worried about. I'm gonna do 4.56s at the same time as the locker, and with my newly installed 2800 edge, its already extra lurchy and prone to spin on the factory gears. I'm on 305/50/20 fuzion xti right now, just ordered some 305/50/20 nitto NT420 from pep boys, 690 for the set.

What's the general concensus for locker choice? I'm not fan of the auburn gear products, I had an ECTED in the front end of my jeep and it decided not to unlock one day and I had to pull the driveshaft to get home.

I'm looking at a true trac, Ive run several in the past but never in something this big...

I have a DDT and if I was to do it again I would try a PowerTrax locker, it comes both for a open differential and the OEM LS diff. Drops in without dismantling the rearend. It seems to me the rear springs wrap up pretty easily and I'm a great fan of Caltracs. Still launches aren't as easy as one might think. I need a lot more practice to be any good at it.

I'm really wanting to go with a full carrier locker instead of a lunchbox, I want that factory LSD out of there. True trac seems to be the choice of most.

Yeah I've got the same problem with learning to launch this big *****. I've been on a strip for most of my life on bikes and in camaros and one fox body, but this is by far the biggest thing I've ever owned, let alone put down a track. It's a learning experience, haha.

Most of the times I left spinning, averaged a 2.53 60ft. The 2 runs where I was able to launch lower (2k ) and actually hook up I did a 2.09 and a 2.05 60ft.

It's got the potential, I just gotta figure it out.
