How long ago was it when you had the transmission replaced,as it looks like somebody might have screwed up re-installing the t-case.
I agree, if one of those bolts backs out, it can cause the rest to shear. Most T-case issues on these trucks are caused by front driveshaft wear/improper maintenance, never heard of it just falling out. Would like to hear where you had the transmission work done.

So like I said I have no idea how this happened. I had the transmission replaced about a hundredk kms ago so I don’t think that had anything to do with it

Transfer cases just don't fall off or shear studs, unless it locked up at highway speeds,so i'd be suspicious of who installed the transmission,as it could take quite awhile for the nuts to back off to where they'd cause an issue if they weren't properly torqued

Well holy sh&& the t case has perted ways with the trans don’t know why yet but I will keep you posted
I stated that as a possibility on my reply from a few days ago. The fact you just had the trans worked on, meaning the transfer case had been removed and reinstalled, means somebody didn't properly torque the transfer case bolts. Most likely they spun the nuts on by hand and didn't tighten them. Having them loose with play in them will cause them to shear off. There is a lot of rotational torque at this mount. There is also a chance they way over tightened them and cracked or snapped the studs, but my guess is they forgot to tighten them. I would also look at the rear transmission/transfer case mount and make sure it's tight and properly installed.
In any case I would be talking to whoever did the trans work!

It was lo-cost transmission on 99st in Edmonton just south of whyte ave
I would be talking to this shop! If it was just a 100 kms ago this is 100% their issue! If the bolts were improperly tightened it probably took a a little distance for them to fall off.

100k I think that ship has sailed

It can't hurt to inform them about the incident. You will certainly learn how conscientious they are.

There are still a few individuals who are willing to stand behind their work, and they might not like the PR aspect of doing nothing.

So after three days of cursing swearing gnashing of teeth. The new studs are in. The kid said that he would come and help put it back in. Anyone that has ever tried to drill studs out knows what apita it is.

Aluminum case with steel studs that never break flat just don’t break off a drill bit or an e-z out or it will go from apita to horrific in a snap
