You have to decide what method you are going to do, I recommend you drop the pan and find a DYI trans flush and get what you can out of the torque converter and change the filter. Some of the shops method for changing tranny oil only gets about 50% and can cause debris to get in your clutch pack. Brands like Redline or Amsoil are real beneficial and tout a 100k change interval under normal conditions, and 50k under severe conditions like someone who tows a lot. When I'm changing my tranny oil I am using Redline C+ ATF, and will likely never have to change it again. Same thing with gear oil. Do a little research, Redline or Amsoil is worth the extra cost here.

Redline and Amsoil are definitely not the same as the ones on the list. High ester formulas will make for a long tranny life with low temps and hyper clean.

Read this on Redlines tranny oil.

Since you only change your tranny oil ever so often, you mise well use the best oil ever made for it.

I PMed you a DYI oil change, can't post in here as it is from a dif forum. almost all oil filter kits come with new seals as well, use them! Should be under 30 bucks for the entire kit, plus oil that will be quite expensive no matter what you use, I think a full change is like 14qrts or something like that. whatever oil you use buy it locally so you can return any unused qrts. Redline dealer locator. Keep that unused oil, there are a million uses for old tranny oil.

If you do it every 30-50k miles there's no need to do a "flush". Drop the pan, replace the filter, bolt the pan back up with a new gasket and fill till full. That'll get anywhere from 35-50% of the old fluid out. If you really want to you can drop the pan again after 100 miles or so and repeat the process, only don't change the filter. That should be good for 75% of fluid replacement.

just need a second set of hands to shut truck off and a bucket to catch fluid and you can to 100% fluid change. When you do it just make sure you don't let the pump cavitate.
