Transfer case Allen Head Drain Plugs!!

Went to change my Transfer case Fluid yesterday and of course the 3/8" Allen Head fill plug was frozen solid. Tried to finess it off but to no avail now it is rounded. Has anyone had any luck welding a nut to it to get it out.

Why they use such a weak fastener in a place like that is beyond me

Oh great, another thing to worry about. This is on my to do list. One of those easy, straight forward things to bang out. Last thing i need is a stripped head. My truck is a 14, so maybe it will be ok. Good luck.

I've welded a couple of these. Once u get a nut welded on the heat from the weld let's you spin the plug right out.
