2006 mega cab not sure of lift bought it drove it home an the transfer case exploded. It was not in 4wd. It does have a large lift, an the case looks like it exploded where it meets the front driveshaft , the chain is actually still in tact so it cut everything in half at the cab, but has anyone else had this problem? I have a new transfer case and want to avoid destroying it… should I change the lift ? Or I can post some pix any help would be appreciated

Wow that certainly did grenade.....

Hard to tell from the pics, but the inside of that tcase looks pretty dry. Might have been low on fluid or had no fluid in it?

Any vibrations before it happened?

Beautiful truck btw!

So the beast lives again… luckily the tag on the old transfer case survived I found another used one. I don’t have the front driveshaft my custom one is gone , factory length is to short … but my transfer case when plugged up doesn’t throw any codes but I can hear the encoder motor engaging when the trucks off it will randomly engage an disengage . I drive it around the block an it would go in 4wd , I think it’s the switch on the dash or ….? Anyone had that issue ? Probly why it exploded the first time

It might be a good idea to have someone who specializes in lifted trucks determine if the driveshaft angles are good before having a custom shaft made. You might need to alter how the transfer case sits, sometimes they are rotated downwards to lessen drive angles
