Transmission Help

I just changed my Transmission fluid and filter because it was not shifting out of 3rd. It seemed to fix the problem when I was driving until the truck was warmed up and I went about 5miles and then it wouldn't shift out of 1st again. Does anyone have any Ideas on what I should try next.

Ok...it doesn't shift out of 1st...or 3rd? If it's 1st gear

If you have a 46re...check these

1. Throttle Linkage Mis-adjusted/
Stuck.
1. Adjust linkage and repair linkage if worn
or damaged. Check for binding cable or
missing return spring.

2. Gearshift Linkage Mis-adjusted.
2. Adjust linkage and repair linkage if worn
or damaged.

3. Governor Component Electrical
Fault.
3. Check operating pressures and test with
DRBT scan tool, repair faulty component.

4. Front Band Out of Adjustment.
4. Adjust Band.
5
. Clutch or Servo Malfunction.
5. Air pressure check operation of clutches
and bands. Repair faulty component.

My first thought is your govenor pressure selenoid failed....or your front band needs adjustment. Probably both.

After it warms up it won't shift out of 1st. I will check the govenor pressure solenoid and the front band for adjustment and let you know.

Can you manually shift it through all the gears and it shift fine? If so, look at a solenoid being bad.

my dodge tried that crap, but i changed my fluid, filter, shift solenoid, kick down cable, and cleaned the valve body, now i nave no problems at all
