Pay attention to the original post (or put your glasses on).......There were really three options for the 1985 model year trucks equipped with a 5.2L 318ci motor.
It could have an A-999 with the 2.74 first gear or the A-904 or even better like @HemiLonestar stated the A-727 with a lock-up torque converter.
If you can take a picture of the transmission pan I can tell you whether it is the 727 or the 904/999 variant.

More than likely just 904. The old rule of thumb was that the 727 was used in trucks and cars with big engines but things changed a lot in the 1980s when chrysler was on the ropesWhat tranmission is in an 85 dodge prospector 2wd 5.9 gas V8
Maybe up there. Down here 340/360 never got less than a 727. Most truck 318's still got a 727 for longevity. Slant 6's and 318's were the only ones that got 904's.More than likely just 904. A 340 wasn't around in 1985 but yes a detuned, anemic, 360 was. I had a 1977 d 100 that had a 727 but as I said into the 1980s with all money problems that chrysler was going through, they cut corners whenever and wherever they could.Maybe up there. My Dads 87 with a 318 had a 727,never seen a 904 behind a V8 in a 1/2 ton in the 80's in CanadaMore than likely just 904. The old rule of thumb was that the 727 was used in trucks and cars with big engines but things changed a lot in the 1980s when chrysler was on the ropes
Usually we got heavier duty trucks then you guys did up till the early 90's,even our leaning tower of powers got 727's in most applications if they were in a 1/2 ton or a vanMaybe up there. It was surprising to see the differences on some vehicles built for the US market compared to Canada. My 1977 dodge B100 had a 6 cyl and a 727 trans. But as I stated previously, a lot of things changed during the early to mid 1980s when they were on the ropes.Usually we got heavier duty trucks then you guys did up till the early 90's,even our leaning tower of powers got 727's in most applications if they were in a 1/2 ton or a van
Yea we got some stuff up here that was never available south of the border ,like 71/72 340 Dart Swingers. It was surprising to see the differences on some vehicles built for the US market compared to Canada. I've seen vehicles, right from the factory without oil in the diff and other crazy stuff. 2 or 3 radios thrown into the trunk of a new car, wasn't all that uncommon at times.
