Lately I noticed my 2016 Ram 1500 5.7 L is shifting into the next gear late while accelerating. The RPM's stay around 2000-2200 for a few seconds then eventually drop and shift into that gear. It doesn't happen all the time time though. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Any codes stored in the pcm? Could be as simple as a fluid and filter change.

6 or 8spd? How many miles on it? Any other issues?

I'd start with simple stuff like checking for ~14VDC across the battery with the truck idling.

Try resetting the tranny.... there should be instructions online somewhere. Basically, the trannys learn your driving behavior and adjust shift patterns, etc. It's possible it just got confused (for lack of a better term) and needs a reboot. Various things can make it start the "learning" over.

Old thread here, but is this only happening on cold take off or all the time?

Your truck up shifts at 2000 RPM, and that a problem?

I wish mine did that! A lot of times, mine shifts too soon, and them I'm chugging along at 1500, which SUCKS! I use th Slap Stick in my truck most of the time. Now, I have a he old 5/6 which has a greater RPM difference, but still, I like my RPMs at least 2000; 2500 is even better when I'm accelerating. Cruising RPM is 1700+.

I'd much rather spin an engine than lug it.

Give it another couple of months. It takes a few thousand miles for it to learn when new.

thank you for your reply. but every time I parked my truck for a longer period of time (over 12 hours) and when put into DRIVE mode, it will not go while accelerating ( feel like the truck stuck on the first gear and will not take off). The RPMs stay around 2000-2200 for 10 to 20 seconds then eventually drop and become normal. sent truck to the dealer, they told me there is nothing wrong. Thanks

That sounds like an issue not a learning curve. I'd try a different dealership or take it back to that one.

So they said they couldn't replicate it and since they couldn't there is nothing wrong? Typical dealer line. You might have to leave it there overnight so they can test it when it's cold.
