So being the way I am, I'm nowhere near ready to get out of this lease yet but I've been bored at work and looking at the ramtrucks website.

What has me curious are the lone star and big horn trim levels. Both seem to start at the same price per body style, but there must be something different about the two, maybe options?

I may end up keeping my express because I don't want to lose the good transfer case, but I have been considering an ecodiesel and would like to get a 6'3" bed and rambox next time around. I've also been considering a 2500 cummins, and the trims do the same sort of thing. So what's the deal?

My understanding is that there is no difference. The Lone Star is just Ram's Texas version sold only in Texas (to compete with Chevy's Tx edition Silverado and the F-150 Texas edition). I bought a 2014 Lone Star crew cab last summer, and love it. The big horn is the same truck, just sold outside of Texas.

I also upgraded from an express and it is quite an upgrade. Different grill, 8.4 radio (nav available), chrome bumpers, park sense, folding mirrors, turn signals on mirrors, more interior features, etc.

The only difference between the two is the plastichrome badge on the tailgate. I believe the Lone Star is only sold in Texas and the Big Horn is sold everywhere. I have seen new Big Horn models at Texas dealerships.

They are the same truck as said before it's the "texas" version to compete with the chevy and fords... I don't get it I'm from texas and not having a texas edition wouldn't make me not buy a ram..

Have a good look at the Outdoorsman trim. IMO it has all the 'important' things built into the package plus a few more options available.

I beleieve the outdoorsman will have everything you want. You can get the Eco diesel the ram box and I beleieve it has the T-case you want the few I looked at have 2wd 4 lock and 4 low like my express no auto.
