So I knew my Milwaukee Impact Driver would not get the massive bolts out for my seats. Doing it by hand is extremely tiring considering I can only turn the back bolts 1/5th a turn at a time due to having a regular cab.

I went out earlier and bought the M18 Milwaukee 3/8 Impact Wrench and thought “ok this will rip those suckers right out!”. Boy was I wrong. It barely got one out, and it literally broke the 18mm impact socket on the second one.

I can’t think of what else to do. I literally spent $240 on a brand new M18 Milwaukee Impact Wrench and it just wont get them out. The driver side front 2 came out with my stupid M18 impact driver, but the backs I bought the impact wrench and the one still won’t budge. I got it out about 20% by hand, after 15+ minutes of small tiny turns.

What specific ‘non-air’ tool are you guys and gals using to get these massive sob’s out of the floor???

This has held me up with my new seats for the past couple days now and is driving me nuts. I’m returning the Milwaukee impact wrench to Home Depot in the morning as it’s useless and won’t get the job done.

Looking for specific tool model #’s for anyone who has removed the main bolts holding in the front seats of the 4th gen Rams.

PS: Yes I used a ton of WD-40 and I also tried PB Blaster, neither of which helped at all.

Mine were a pain to get out. The only way I got them was to spray with PB blaster from the bottom, and take a long 3/4 drive ratchet and move it small little turns till it broke loose

I ended up using a long 1/2" breaker bar with a pipe length added to it. Yes, a bit at a time but the only way. I too have some powerful impact wrenches that could not do it.

1/2" Ratchet was all I needed on the driver side and a 1/2" x 24" breaker bar on the passenger side.

The socket that broke, was it an impact rated socket?

Yes. Home Depot must have an exclusive license with Husky because they only sold Husky sockets, and they had 1 other set that was Milwaukee but no employee could locate them, but the site said the store had them. Anyways, yes the Dewalt 20v XR 1/2” impact wrench just annihilated the husky impact socket in under 30 seconds. Cracked it down the side, and the part that locks into the Dewalt 1/2” drive, it just shredded and became a circle, instead of the square shape. Returned them and got a refund. They were like $50 too. Went and bought some craftsman impact sockets from Ace Hardware and they were atleast twice as thick sidewalks compared to the husky sockets.

But I got the seats out, swapped them, and all is good.

This. I've been a pb blaster guy for 20 years... discovered Kroil and never went back.

Spray from underneath as another has mentioned, mine were rusted through.

3/8" impact isn't going to take them out,you need a fairly healthy 1/2" drive impact and 1/2" drive impact socket. Took my bigger 1/2" drive cordless impact to even pull the back seat bolts on my wifes Challenger. 3/8' impacts are pretty light duty, especially if they're cordless.Spring for a decent sized 1/2" "brushless" cordless impact if you can, you'll use it alot more then you think.

Yea I picked up the 1/2” Dewalt 20v XR and some craftsman impact sockets and it tore them right out.

Mine came out with a 20v cordless drill with a socket adapter.

I’m surprised my two Milwaukee’s have handled everything I’ve thrown at them over the years included the seat bolts.

Go buy a lottery ticket,as you're probably the only guy to ever pull seat bolts with a cordless drill.I think you better buy yourself a lottery ticket, while lady luck is smiling on you,lol

Snapped the head off of one of the front bolts while tightening my drivers seat last weekend, and it wasn't even at torque.

If you have the time, get under the truck and take a wire wheel to the exposed treads of the seat bolts and remove as much of the thread locker used from the factory as you can, will make the job a littler easier

Got them off almost 2 weeks ago now. Got my seat swap done. Ended up that I needed a Dewalt 1/2” 20v XR Impact and it just ripped them right out.
