New here. Having issues with no start on my 2015 1500 5.7. For a while (two and a half years) the push button start would be finicky but always started after 2-4 attempts. Last weekend it stopped altogether. Replaced battery (it was due anyway) but discovered that it would restart after a disconnect. But only for one or two cycles then nothing. When it is running, I can only shift into drive once’s before the knob selector locks up. Out of full disclosure, for a while every time I turn right ant slow speeds, I get a chime sound and dash displays check trailer brake. Any thoughts or questions welcome. Please advise if not posted in correct area. Thanks in advance.

First thing, check every fuse and make sure they are properly seated. While checking them, look for corrosion. I would also check every ground point, would clean these contacts and then reinstall. Also check your battery cables for any wear, kinks, loose fittings and clean and tighten.

Does your truck turn over a bit hard ever? Wouldn't hurt to load test the batty, not just with a voltmeter, to make sure it isn't bad. Have you measured output of alternator to battery when running?

Certainly could be the starter button. Take it off and check for continuity with multiple presses. If it seems random when connection is made it could be on its last legs. But that other electrical gremlin needs to get solved because that could be related to starting issue.

Sporadic electrical issues that affect multiple different components usually means you have a loose or corroded wire or connection somewhere. Slight movements of the vehicles and resetting systems can make this go on and off. If it affects multiple different components it's probably a common power or ground wire. For example one ground wire will start splitting off and running to multiple different systems, so if it loose and intermittent it can randomly affect any different component that is connected to it. I Would start out with finding out where all the grounds are and start doing a visual inspection. Sometimes the ground connector at the body or frame can look good but once taken off it has corrosion and needs cleaned up.
If you want to get more technical get a wiring diagram and look at all the different components and see how they are connected in the electrical system.

The service manual for 2013-2016 can be found at the link below.
Download the PDF to a PC and use 'Control F' to word search.

I've attached a PDF of the start button schematic from page 2798 of the manual available above.

And, welcome.gif to Ram Forum.

First off thank you for the responses. I have checked the battery, bought new battery and check the volts feeding back from the alternator. All is good. Visually checked what I could see. All connections are clean and secure. I checked the starter relay since it no longer wants to start at all and I have no power to the relay when trying to start it. I assume that points to prior to the starter engaging is where my issue would be. I’ll check th push button next. Aside from checking brake lights come on, should I check the brake switch too? Just trying to think where I should look after th push button. Thank you a lot for your help!

Sometimes with a bad ground circuit I’ve been able to hook up a 10gauge wire from batt to frame . For testing only. And that has found bad grounds for me before on multiple vehicles. I had an old gent back in the early 90’s. Tell me to solider all my grounds on the ends . Because they all go bad from factory. That’s what he said. And he fix my 67 stang. And a 90 d250 van. I had other issue with both later but they always cranked after he did the grounds for me.
