This may have been answered a few time, but i did search with nothing.

Anyway. This is for my cousins 2010 !500 with hemi, and it also happend with my uncles 09 1500 with hemi.

When they hit the brakes the truck will shut off. No bogging. No signs of engine problems. Put it in neutral and it fires right back up like nothing happend.

To me it sounds like an ignition thing, because other than this the truck runs flawlessly.

Does it happen at idle or while moving?

Idle air control valve sticking? This was the cause in my old Durango, especially when it was cold outside.

I just spent about 30 minutes trying to find a cause for this online, and I got nothing. Sorry man, I'm usually good at digging up theories and causes of problems, but I can't find **** on this for a newer vehicle.

Had this happen a couple times in my '06. Would pull up to a stop sign and the truck would just be dead. Started right back up, ran fine. Months passed didn't do it again. Then out of the blue it happened again right at a stop sign. Starts up, everything's fine for a couple months... Then it happens as I'm weaving through a few parked cars on a winding residential street, All the sudden I lose power steering, avoid a car, and I pooped a little. Starts back up though, take it to the shop and they can't find anything. All good they say.

I solved the problem by trading it for a 2013. If anyone is unlucky enough to get a 2006 black quad cab SLT with the classic wheel well rust, and a noisy rear diff, you probably should get that checked out. ;)

Sorry, I can't help but it's a real issue that I've experienced, just couldn't figure it out.

I would bet it is a loose wire connection or hose somewhere.

I know that somewhere part is a vague description.

If it runs fine for awhile and then it dies and starts up it has to be something loose.

Does it happen any time other than braking?

For me, it seemed like it might be foot off the gas, not necessarily braking. The last time it happened I don't think I had my foot on the brake. Hoses were a thought but in my case everything was clear and connected. Worth a check though.

Maybe it was electrical... There was no bucking, or sputtering like you'd expect... almost like turning the key off, but I never lost radio or anything.

The weird thing was how infrequent it was. It would be fine for months and then happen out of the blue. In my case there was nothing in common that I could see with the conditions it happened under. Like 3 occurrences in 18 months. different external temp, different engine temp. If it were something loose you'd expect to trigger it more frequently and with things like bumps and whatnot.
