i have a 2017 Cummins tradesman with egr/dpf delete kit with efi live, leveled with 35s less than 19k miles on it. About a month ago drove two miles down the road ran into store cans and started truck let it idle for a min then went to put it in reverse it shut off; has done this multiple times once while driving 55mph with my kids in vehicle. Dash lights stay on as well as radio. Have to wait a few seconds open door let the singing start then shut door and turn key and it starts up fine. Took it to dealership they couldn’t find anything or recreate the problem.

The delete kit has been on there for a year now with no problems. Just changed oil, oil filter and fuel filter less than 3k miles ago.

It was a once a week occurrence and now it has happened two days in a row, doesn’t matter if I drive it for 30mins or all day. It happens at random times. Trying to get an idea of what is going on.

Any idea would be appreciated. Thanks

I had a similar problem. I don’t know if the tradesman has the same type of ignition that my ‘12 ram has. But mine uses a fobik and the previous owner must have had a bunch of keys. These WIN modules break easily if there are too much weight of keys or key tags etc. I took mine apart (it requires good soldering skills and patience) and have more spring to the contacts. I found that the plastic inside the WINS module was warn prettty bad so I ended up putting shrink tube around it to fill in the space. Made it tighter but reduced the wiggling of the key. Now it doesn’t cut out.

Mine would cut when making a hard turn, or hitting bumps. Again I apologize but not knowing what the ‘17 tradesman has for a key or fobik, just sharing what I had with mine.

On my truck if I even bumped the dash it would cut out. I tracked it to the key. If you have a key with the fobik transponder on it try wiggling the key with it running.

I’m guessing the tradesman is the lowest trim so it wouldn’t include the proximity key right?

Hi Kayla duet,
We're very sorry to hear about this. If you choose to have your dealer look into this, you can send us a private message and we would be happy to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have while your truck is being serviced.
