I have a bone stock 2006 Ram 1500 HEMI. I am not out to race or anything, just trying to squeeze a couple more mpg out of the truck and also provide a little more power for towing.

I have 21.5 ft wake boat that weighs in about 5,000 lbs with trailer and gear and the truck hunts for gears at freeway speed on moderate to small inclines. This drives me crazy so I just want enough power to where it will just stay in gear.

I am thinking a CAI

A programmer

And Exhaust (I know it doesn't yield major gains but I want a little more aggressive sound than stock but don't want to be annoyed on long drives towing the boat)

Any one have any recommendations on these three things?

Can't do gears. I do ALOT of hwy driving and can't give up the fuel mileage gears will cost me. Looks like programmer is the way to first then.

Any good options for the 2006 Hemi??

Take a look at Moe's Performance and Matt will get you going. The S&B intakes are looking good for these trucks and on par with the rest in price. Far as the tuner goes a Super Chips will be your easiest plug and play. Headers on back will show the best net gain for you on exhuast.

Like KG said above, Superchips is going to be your best bet for the tuner, and is only $329. As for the intake, the S&B is hard to beat for the price. Fit/finish is perfect, and it looks great. The Vararam is a better performer, but is geared more towards the guys that are taking their trucks to the dragstrip.

Then for the exhaust, we have a few sets of the BBK ceramic coated shorty headers in stock, and these will bolt right up to your factory Y-pipe. Finish it off with a Magnaflow replacement muffler, and you are good to go.

Also, we are just up the road form you in Conroe, so I dont mind meeting up with you to talk trucks and give you some advice. I can also work some better pricing out with you if we can meet up instead of having to ship parts. Makes things easier for both of us.

My thing and will always be who can provide the best customer service, Matt has done that for all the members here. I will spend a few extra $$ to have someone promt to help if there is an issue with the part or experiance with the trucks in general.

what gears do you have in it now? I pull my boat with ease with 4.56's and 17" (31" tires) and my mileage is decent..it doesn't hunt for gears either..

I was going to chime in again for gears as well. For some reason, Dodge geared all their 1/2 tons like they had turbo diesels! I think swapping to a 4.10 would likely HELP your highway mileage. Keeping the truck more in the powerband means you'll need less throttle.

Don't Fear the Gear!

Ok thanks for all the advice and I wouldn't mind meeting up in Conroe sometime. Next week I'll be leaving the country for a month but maybe we can work something out when I get back.

Also my brake rotors are warped and the whole dang truck shakes coming to a stop, anyone know where in can get thicker rotors or slotted or something to help prevent this in the future?

We can set you up on those rotors as well. Just shoot me a PM when you get back in town, and we can go over a few different options.

Oh yeah and as far as gears go I'm not sure. I run about 1900 rpm at 70 mph under normal non towing conditions.
