Tune for a 85mm throttle body or No Tune

So from the last few weeks now i have had the throttle light come on then go right back off after a few seconds and i have taken it to the dealer and they cant figure out why its doing that. So i wanted to know if i go from the stock throttle body to a 85mm one would i need to get a tune or would i be okay with out one.
It would be going on a 2012 Ram ST 5.7

Tuning is not required with our 85mm ported throttle body. Custom tuning is required with the BBK true bore 85mm throttle body though.

After reading a LOT about ported TB, it seems a waste of money. Don't spend money on something useless trying to fix a problem.

This is not true. On a stock motor, you aren't going to see a huge gain from a ported throttle body, but on a motor with full boltons and a tune, we always see a full tenth off the 1/4 mile times and roughly 12-15hp/tq to the wheels.

We have numerous customers that have tested this at the track and have seen the same results I just mentioned.

He is having a throttle light issue, not a performance issue. It's not worth spending over $500 on a TB to diagnose (chase parts)
Guess what I'm saying, I'd fix the problem first before investing in a TB that will give him nothing for his money. I'd probably try cleaning the current TB first before anything.

First thing the dealership will do if there are throttle body codes is clean the throttle body. These units are electronic and have failed without much explanation...happens more on the higher mileage trucks.

And our 85mm throttle body is only $299...way cheaper than $500. If a stock one costs you $200 from the dealer, then another $100 to pick up an extra 8-10hp and get a brand new functional throttle body isn't a bad deal.
