I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 with 5.7 Hemi and 105000 miles I have been quoted $1250 for a tune up and $1250 for a transmission service. Is this a normal cost or should I keep checking? Thanks , any input will be appreciated.

Out of curiosity, could you share with us what exactly a "tune up" consists of according to the quote? And also, a "transmission service" according to the quote?
If you can't do them yourself, you'll likely be at the mercy of someone who can - hopefully not a dealership. I would certainly shop around several places with those prices.

^^^^^^^THIS!

Trans service (fluid and filters) should be no more than $300, and the “tune up” (which is nothing more complicated than an air filter and spark plugs) is about $500…..
Maybe they meant BOTH for $1250..??? ( or someone is stealing.)

Wow I still remember the local dealer back in 2010 having 8 plug changes for $139 plus tax an yes plugs were include at that price .
Dealers gonna bang you $25 (maybe $30) each just for plugs, not sure the book time, I bet its 2 hrs at least, plus incidentals.

If 8 speed trans, just the pan/filter is over $300 @RockAuto. Dealer price prob 450+, and will charge $25+/qt. for 8+9 spd. trans fluid. Normal drain and fill is ~ 6 qts. Cap is 9-1/2 (I think). Plus labor.

As others have said, $1250 is a bit much.

As Dredger points out, "tune up" needs to be defined.

On your vehicle a spark plug change, new air filter, clean throttlebody and MAP sensor, clean or replace PCV valve, check coolant level and pressure test, maybe even and oil and filter change.

Transmission service is another that needs to be defined. For me it means a drain at the minimum, and pan/filter replacement. Some shops, like my dealer, checks clutch indexes and clutch fills with a scanner. My dealer charged me $650 when I was at 60,000 miles, which was several years ago. Prices have probably gone up since then.

In any event, unless they're doing other things $1250 each for each service seems way too high.

The week before it was lost/totalled in a wreck… I personally replaced all 16 plugs AND wires (lower connectors)…but kept the original coils….
The iridium plugs were $175, and I did the labor. Took about 3 hours because I was in no hurry. Yes, it was a bit tedious…but I took my time and felt good about it afterwards…. for almost ten days….when we were wrecked by a driver who ran his red light: (I had also paid, the week previous) about $2500 in “preventive” maintenance….to a shop to replace the front CV-axles, front drive-shaft, all U-joints, service txfr-case, tranny and both diffs….and those Michelin tires were almost brand-new…)
