Ive read quite a bit on tuners, however my question is will a tuner with a basic tune on a stock truck hurt the reliabilty of the truck in the long term?

Im not looking to make gobs of power or race. My truck is 2013 sport with 6 speed and 3.55. Drivetrain/exhaust etc is all stock, just a level kit is only real mod. I basically want a tuner to shut mds off and make the 6 spped shift better and throttle response improve.

Thanks for the help.

it wont hurt anything but i think you will be disappointed with a canned tune. i would look into a custom tune.

I agree with shane1981. The canned tunes that come with the programmer are OK but a custom tune really wakes up the truck.

I think a tuner is a great mod, you can get a custom tune to firm up your shifts, the can tunes that are pre loaded are OK. If you want to add mods down the road you can and your tuner will wright you a new tune to compliment the added mods. Custom tunes are done through email and it fairly simple. But the throttle response and sloppy tranny issue was a problem for years and the only fix was the pedal Commande. Custom tunes, throttle boost, throttle up shift none of it work. Dropped in the PC and it completely changed my truck.

After having/running both, I feel like the PC helps most with the low end off the line. The tuner helps unleash the top end, with improvements throughout and measurable HP gains.

Each person has to decide what's best. Doing it over again, I'd still get the tuner first then the PC. Both together kick ass.

Dammit, I was afraid you were going to say that.

yall do realize that the throttle booster on the tuner is the same thing as this pedal commander thing and the settings it has are just programs in it to delay it a certain amount just like a tuner can do and if you go with a custom tune just tell your tuner how you want it set

You know I'm running Jays tune, tweaked for all my mods. I've played with the throttle boost on the tuner and it isnt the same as the PC. Plus the PC is adjustable on the fly. No 12 step process to adjust throttle via tuner. Try one out if you can....very happy with it.

I purchased the pedal Commander first but then I knew I wanted a little more from the 5.7. I can't wait to see and feel the difference of the PC with a custom tune; I wonder what this will lead to ( Whipple)????

Hey I'm just one opinion. lol

I'd encourage people to try this one before passing judgement though.

I will also agree that a custom tune works a lot better than a caned tune. When I had a custom tune made for my challenger, the difference was 2 times greater than a caned tune.
There is nothing wrong with caned tunes and the other features a tuner will do, but for the extra price of a custom tune is worth every penny.
I am planning to get a pcm and tuner for the Rebel real soon.
