When my daughter tried to get three separate aftermarket FOBs programmed for her PT Cruiser without luck, I found in the PT service manual one could program it themselves for up to eight (I think) attempts. Worked as described but only on an OEM FOB.

2019 Ram 1500 Billet Silver Laramie Quad Cab 2WD, 5.7 Hemi, 8HP75, 3.21 axle, 33-gallon fuel tank, 18” wheels. Build Date: 3 June 2018. Now at 126590 miles.
My locksmith friend told me this on my '14 Challenger R/T. Up to 8 FOBs can be programmed and after that the ability to ever add any is locked out.

No, not locked out.
The rf hub can have 8 fobs at one time.
Once there are 8 fobs programmed to it, if you lose a fob and need to program another one, you perform erase all fobs, then program back all the ones you do have, including any new ones.

Guess it's possible the RF is locked out but that seems unlikely. Selling dealer would know.

Jimmy07 is the master of all fob programing. I used his procedure on my 2024, with Jscan, and the ebay fob he specifies and bingo, it coughed up a 5 digit pin and programmed the first try.

It's an easy way to get a reliable fob for 19s and later for about $125.

All the Jimmy07 programming details are on this forum.

At least you found it. I’m still using my factory remote on my 04 ram & it still has og battery in the remote . 21yrs old this year. 422k mls. With the yrs & miles on all the OE Og equipment my 04 still has. The quality control for mfg parts seems to have really gone 2 crap. Even that lil battery in my remote is from 04. The dealer I bought it from told me as long as I own the truck they would do software updates Free. I wonder what they’d say if I went back now & asked them to update the software. At least in the 90’s ford put a sticker in the trunk with the pin # for the security & remote/fob programming .

Very interesting...thanks for sharing. So, if this is the issue it was done without me knowing because I definitely didn't request it. Could it have been done at the factory during the build?

I had one saftey recall recently performed but it was for an ABS Module Configuration, so not sure when it could've have been done other than during the build or when it arrived at the dealer before I picked it up.

You would think one of the dealers that tried programming the fob would detect that this was the issue but who knows. Oh well, I added an Apple Air Tag to my fob today, so hopefully I won't have to deal with it again.
Dealers will do recall fixes without your knowledge (my dealer here anyways).happened to me on a shift lock mechanism I think...told them I knew about it and didn't want it done due to its age and no issues with it and cause I knew somehow under my steering wheel it wouldn't be put back just perfect(and it wasnt).because of my trucks age i had the option to say no.and wasnt required, truck was in for other work and I specifically told them no.service writer wrote it on the work order..tech did it anyways..I hollered and hollered when I got it back.all on deaf ears and was told sorry.
Haven't been back since for anything.

Marshall, it was a brand new 2023 Ram 1500 hemi classic. I wanted to get the stock hemi before they were gone. Now it appears they will be making the hemi again!

I was STUNNED to learn that my new Ram that I picked on the dealer's web site did not have carpet, key fobs, Sirius XM, trailer hitch, and some other features that were ALWAYS on the Tradesmen I have bought for years. He said it had leather seats - nope, vinyl. The dealer already had my money, I had driven three hours to pick it up, and he was nothing but snotty about all of it! Not to mention he didn't tell me about the ding in the rear bumper that I didn't see until after he had the money. This dealership is the most dishonest Ram dealer I have ever encountered. Can I name names?

I think it Important that we be accurate And honest…and that means Naming Names…. and coming back to correct things if/when a dealership stands-up and fixes their mistakes.
Do a search on my posts and you’ll find why I will NEVER go back to Cecil Atkission CJDR in cental Texas.

My 2012 only came with one fobik. I bought the dorman fobik and programmer. Worked like a charm.

Then 2 years later while doing maintenance I lowered the spare tire down. Guess what I found wire tied to the top side of the spare... The original second fobik!!!
