So I put new TYC headlight housings in my dad's truck last week with GE Nighthawk bulbs.
Quite frankly, the beam pattern is ******, even when aimed correctly.
Peak beam intensity isn't oblong like the OE housings, it's kinda jagged almost. Low beam on the road is OKAY, but not great, still has tight hot spots and the high beam is useless. It seems beam output isn't great either.
I'm really leaning toward the bulbs as being the issue here. Anyone else used this combo before?

to be hhonest dude when you buy headlights that come with bulbs.. they are from china, mass produced and no inspections. nothing is free, even bulbs. change them and see. personally in a non HID system i like the sylvania zxe

I dunno. Dad's truck sooooo he ain't gonna let me destroy TWO sets of headlights. :laughing1:
I'm going to take the old Sylvania Xtravisions out of the OE housings and drop em into the new ones and see what I get.

That's the plan. I was just wondering if anyone else had seen the same issue.

I would suggest posting a picture maybe 20ft from a wall so that you can show the beam pattern. I would be very curious to see the hotspots/cutoff.

Okee.....soooo turned the shutter speed up, did low and high beam with GE Nighthawks, then did the same with one old Sylvania Xtravision

Much easier to see in person

Low GE, focus on the beam on the right, because that's the bulb that gets changed.

High GE

Low Sylvania XV. Hard to notice, but the cutoff with the XV is noticebly sharper than with the GE NH

High Sylvania XV

The high beams on these housings SUCK regardless of what bulb it has. The GE NH I noticed is slightly longer than the Syl. XV, which I think is contributing to it's less pronounced cutoff. Either way, the beam pattern with both bulbs is just horrible.
