uconnect 8.4 fail

Well, I went on my family 5 week trip around the country. Around day 8, my nav quit working. I tried to do the update on the radio and it got locked in an install loop. Spent two days with the Uconnect people as I headed to Yellowstone. They couldn't do any of the normal resets. They told me to take it to the dealer. I researched and found other people with the same issue and some were able to get it to revert back to the old update. I couldn't get it to stop. It was killing the battery because it would never shut off. Anyway, after 7,215 miles around the country pulling a travel trailer I took it to the dealer. With 89,000 mi I knew I was out of warranty. Anyway, they couldn't figure it out and after three days, said I needed a new head unit. For a mere $1292 I get a reconditioned head unit. Geez.

Sorry to hear that. Did the update pop up on the display? Or did you manually check for the update.

I hope you get it solved with the minimal amount of time and $.

wow... wish I hadn't agreed to the fix. anyone done the aftermarket?

I had issues installing the last update with my uconnect also. I had to download the update three times to get it to work. I followed the same procedure each time so I have no clue why the third time worked. I originally did the update because that is what the dealership and uconnect folks said was needed to get my GPS working again. It is still broken and the dealership said there is nothing they can do. From my research it looks like I also need a replacement to get my navigation working again. My only complaint for the truck is the stupid navigation.
