Uconnect app subscription /registration?

Well , for those of us who've upgraded our radios from the RA1 RA2 up to the RA4 and cannot register for Uconnect Access , there may be a light at the end of the tunnel .
With a Google search you can find out lots of info , do your own research and post here if you want .
It seems in 2018 Chrysler /Fiat are moving away from the RA / VP radio platform, and uconnect app access will be open to all for a $$price $$

Recently I upgraded to an RA4 8.4AN , my truck was an original RA1 .
I noticed I have a working Yelp app ?

I do not have Uconnect registered.

I called RAM Vehicle care , via pushing the uconnect apps touchscreen button and chose ASSIST , then pushed the RAM vehicle care .



I attempted to register for Uconnect utilizing the DONER VIN# for my radio ( the clerk assumed I purchased the vehicle used , I did not lead them to believe otherwise ) the clerk told me it's in the previous owners name and they must contact him to get a verbal on removing his name from the uconnect registration . The clerk went on to say there's a 48 hr wait time and if I call back in 48 hrs they could register me even if no contact was made with the previous owner .
I asked what info do I need when I call back , to make the registration process go smoothly?
The clerk said all I need is the vehicle Vin # , current mileage and my personal info and a credit card to complete the process .... well I have all of that except for the current milage of the doner vin#ed truck . I plan on using my mileage and hope that works .

I did the above yesterday, oddly today I received an email from uconnect requesting me to link several apps avail on my uconnect radio to my smart phone ? Weird ....

I'll keep this thread informed on my progress success or failure .

Tried Yelp on my 16. It went through all the prompts and then said I needed a Uconnect subscription. It did load up but wouldn't work.

I've tried several uconnect apps on this radio including yelp over the last few weeks since I installed it ( this is the radio I purchased from you Rick ) I have always gotten to the same page saying I required a uconnect sub ...

Today after the weird email out of the blue from uconnect I tried several more apps none worked except yelp ? I was able to get reviews on a local restaurant.

Did you ever try yelp when you owned this 15 RA4 8.4NA Sir ?

I seem to remember a while back cptwing said Yelp worked for him as well and he had just upgraded to the RA4 ? I think it stopped working for him though
Fwiw I plan on calling Uconnect back tomorrow night and attempt to register

No I never tryed the apps when I had the 15. I am hoping you have luck tomorrow with your Uconnect subscription. Many have tryed with no success Uconnect needs the vin# for your truck to be in there system in order to subscribe you. I am pretty sure if you use the donor Vin it will try to register you and then fail because the radio is in the incorrect truck. I belive it also requires two sales codes in order to be activated that are not available for our trim level. I honestly probably wouldn't subscribe even if we could. I wouldn't use the apps much because it's right there in my phone for free. The only reason I would consider paying for Uconnect would be to get voice texting if I did not currently have it or to get the Travel and Traffic if it was through Uconnect instead of Sirus. Good luck with your registration I will be watching to see how it goes. You never know things could be changing.

I worked way too late Tonight so I never called Ram Care back on my attempt to gain a Uconnect subscription. ..

Not sure I want to jack with it for now , hell I have everything I want in a radio with this 2015 RA4 8.4NA , in my 14 Express .
I have :
1) perfect voice texting !

2) best Navigation I've used to date ! ( I'm a navigation junky ) I travel quite a bit with work , I've used Many platforms .

3)I have Realtime Traffic for 4yrs

4) I have and Love Travelink for 4 years !

☆☆BOTH #3 & # 4 are SXM offered features.

5) I also have album art

6 ) I have 6 diff themes

7 ) I also have everything else the RA4 8.4NA has to offer with flawless operation.

Sorry guys , I'm very happy with my radio .... I'm not gonna pursue the uconnect apps registration , I just don't see it as being advantageous.

I thought album art was a given. Is that something that is broken on some RA3/4 conversions? Unless you are getting album art over bluetooth? That would be nice.

Agree that uconnect subscription isn't worth the $$.

I let me subscription to uconnect expire and my voice texting doesn't work when I try and send a voice text it tells me I'm not subscribed to uconnect. I have the RA4 8.4 NA???

For some reason when you do the conversion and install the RA3 or RA4 from the RA1 or RA2 it tells you your Uconnect subscription is expired but the Voice Texting still works in most cases. None of the other apps usually work exept the voice texting. We have guys with 2013 radios that still have voice texting that works. No one really knows for sure why it works but it does.

I do have GREAT voice texting , I do not have a uconnect subscription ( because I upgraded from the RA1 )
Oddly I also have YELP ?? Not sure why ?
