Uconnect GPS update

Anyone installed the new navigation update. $99.00 for the update that is usually 150.00. Is it worth the effort or just a waste of money. Has nothing to do with the software update for the 8.4 system.

The unconnect system and nav, have been for me a huge disappointment! It would take more time to type where that system fails (EPIC FAIL). Why would unconnect think anyone would play $150 let alone $99 for a update. I'd pay flat much for Google maps and/or Waze.

The unconnect team needs to close their doors... Work some consignment with Google or Waze.

Aside from the UAS/UAQ upgrade, if you don't have already have the Dual Zone automatic temp control, the single zone ATC is one of my favorites. My other favorite mod is adding the dedicated DRLs along with the Modifystreet headlights.

While I get that some aspects of Google are too far left and close minded.

What about Google maps? I've used Garmin, Waze, ram unconnect... Google maps is still king. I'm open minded to be proved wrong...

I use a Garmin mounted about my 8.4 in that little tray. I can still use the nav but I don't care for it much. My Garmin has free updates for life.

I use Waze consistently it seems the best though not far better than Google but yeah they're the devil.

I think I am going to go ahead and update mine. $50 cheaper and I use my on-board GPS all the time. I've noticed that with my old maps, there are some roads and intersections that need to be updated. Yea, I know $100 to update maps is a crime, but it does not have to be done very often. Thank you @bankshot for the heads-up on the sale price!!

IIRC Uconnect publishes updates in the 2nd & 4th quarters of the year. The site doesn't say but you might want to check the date of the on sale update. If it is the 2Q19 update, it will only be "current" for another couple of months.

You may be right, but my truck is a '14, so it is already five years out of date, a few months will not make much of a difference.

I updated mine a few months ago - I got mine from the UK ebay link that was provided here in the forum. Works fine and worth it to me. Yes it's not as up to date as a stand-alone that gets updates every month, but personally I hate having extra crap/cables/etc all over my dash. It's not like roads around here change that much, just occasional new construction on interpasses n such.

On my 2018 RAM, the 8.4C GPS works ok but I prefer using the 8.4C with Waze and also I use the Garmin RV 770 LMT-S RV GPS which gives me height clearances when pulling my 5th wheel. Apple Car Play allows Waze to be displayed on the screen. It is so much more functional than the RAM GPS or Google Maps, especially while operating in big cities. What other GPS programs give you pothole notifications, police notifications and real-time notifications from other drivers? NONE that I know of. I just wish Waze would give Satellite views as Google Maps does. If you have apple Car Play don't waste your $$$ on the update. Use Waze!!

Can't stand the nav on the 17 sport. Can't connect to AA to get Waze. Went in to upgrade software and the said the system won't support AA. 1/2 year off.
