uconnect problems

So in my wife's 2014 grand Cherokee Laredo with uconnect 5.0 ra2 it does not load contacts or text messages from either of our phones when connected, it will say "downloading" but nothing ever comes up.

While troubleshooting online I checked to see if there was any updates available, it says there is an update available. My question is, can this update be done 100% using only one of our phones or do we need to use our laptop?

Download the file on a thumb drive from your laptop and plug the thumb drive into the truck

I have a HTC One
And my wife has a Samsung Mega 2

My HTC One M7 did the same thing. I believe it was because immediately after pairing your phone there are two prompts that need to be answered in the affirmative (share contacts and phonebook). To get the prompts to appear, you need to unpaid from UCONNECT on your phone and perform the pairing process again.

If the prompts still don't appear you can click the settings icon (sprocket) next to UConnect on your phone. There are two checkboxes on the following screen. Make sure they are both checked.
