Uconnect question

Hey, new owner of an 06 laramie, previous ram was an 03 1500 with the 4.7 (with an 06 Charger 5.7 in between. gonna miss that ride)

My question is this. I have the REC nav head unit and the uconnect on the mirror. The original window sticker shows the uconnect for $275 at purchase, but the unit does nothing when I hit the phone button. I called a local dealer, and he pulled my truck on their syetm by VIN and said it wasn't installed in my truck and I need to purchase additional hardware at a cost of over $600. I'm thinking this sounds like BS. Can anyone help ?

If you have the button on the mirror then you do have u-connect. Im not sure why it is not showing up by VIN. Maybe he over looked it. If you only had the button on the nav then it would be possible that it is not equipped and you would need the additional hardware that the dealer was talking about but they only have the uconnect mirrors in vehicles equipped with u-connect.

Some people replaced their rear view mirrors with the ones that had that button. If the Vin shows that it was not factory installed then you do not have the complete system.

Well that mirror is over $500 at the dealer so I doubt that people are going to spend that just to have the button. He also said that the original window sticker showed it as a option on the truck. I think there may just be a problem with the system.
