Yeah be very careful with updates.

Update to all following: I've spoke to the junkyard and they will be refunding me for this unit.

Now I'll be looking for another. Is there any way to get the unlock code for the radio if I find one from a wrecked vehicle? I do not want to go to the dealer since I'm not trying to void my warranty by changing the radio.

Try downloading it using a Canada vin of a truck with same options/radio. Reinstall and follow instructions exactly.

Thanks for the tip. When I attempt to update using a previous update for my VIN that I had on my thumb drive, it told me FILES NOT SUPPORTED...surprised it even read my thumb drive since it won't even load my ipod through USB.

One thing to check is that your USB drive has NO hidden files on it as with SanDisk USB drives. It should be a clean formatted USB drive. Depending on what version you are trying to load. It may need to be at least 4GB or up to 16GB for the 17.11.07 updates. Check the UConnect instructions for the version you are trying to load.

The only file on the USB should be swdl.iso for earlier versions and swdl.iso and swdl.upd for the 17.11.07 since it is a full master update.

No better feeling than success... the new unit I purchased from a 2017 works like a charm.

Warning to all forum users, make sure you know what you are doing!! Ask some of the members here before you attempt anything.

Thank you for all of your help everyone!

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear that you were able to get a compatible radio and finally complete the 8.4 conversion.
