Finally got to drive her! My fever broke the other day! I don’t feel great, but so much better!

Tomorrow I may have to use her for work! Swapping out a 700+lb steam boiler!

Moved her up top of my driveway so I could plow!

Did some work! Winch a 700+lb boiler out of a basement! Everything worked as it should! No issues with the winch or transfer case!

Hows the motor sounding ?!
Quiet as a church mouse! Runs like a new motor! Pulls strong, idles quiet! I’ve put a couple tanks of no-e through it! I’m happy! I sure did miss driving her!

First full tank of no-e, 10.4mpg! Includes some idle time(eek8-0), some 4x4 on snowy roads, and some plain old driving in the hills here at home!

A couple “before” pics! Completely doll-up tomorrow! Interior, exterior, and engine bay! It’ll be in the 50s tomorrow! I’m looking at the frame right now! Completely covered in salt! Hope some time is spent cleaning that up!IMG_1665.jpegIMG_1664.jpeg

I’ll get some better pics in the morning before it gets the once(thrice) over!;-)

Wow, never did put up the “after” pics here! I’ll have to get it done again!

Anyhow, HUGE day for me! I’m at 70,000 miles! Got my first tank over 13mpg! I had a day of errands in the “flats”, no hills like in my daily life! Also, setting the cruise at 60mph instead of 63mph probably helped!

I got the studded snows off the other day too! Same exact tire, same inflation pressure! Kenda Klever RT, 35 12.5 17!IMG_2013.jpegIMG_2006.jpeg

Well…just shy of 75,000 miles! First oil change since the new engine was installed! All went well! I see they used the tiny little filter! Not Much bigger than a baseball! I went with the Amsoil filter and signature series oil…as usual! The filter is the same diameter, but 1 1/2” longer!

Thoughts on new engine!

I had read about all the displeasure with the noise/feel of the engine in “eco” mode! I never heard/felt it with the original engine! I didn’t really understand the complaint! New engine…now I get it! It doesn’t bother me except that I notice it! I guess my thought is that it’s running “efficiently”!

I’m also hitting the 12+mpg a lot more often! (It could also be that I’m working in a much “flatter” area than the Naples hills! Though I still drive up a steep grade for a mile to get home!

Anyhow, even greasing the front shaft went well!

Tires! Kenda Klever RT, E rated!

I’m very happy with them! Almost 18,000 miles on them! Lots of dirt roads and pavement! No real strenuous wheeling, but working well! Not much noisier than new! Mild hum while driving! The studded ones work well also!

I’ve been busy this winter! 7 days off between first week of December and the third week of April! HVAC season was long and cold here!

To the PowerWagon…4th gear limp mode started in October! Quite randomly! 6time it happened, brought it to “local” dealer! No codes in the computer! My MaxCare won’t do anything with it until a code shows! That was early February! At that time, one of the mechanics pointed out 4 Rams at the back of the lot…all waiting on a 66RFE…3 months+ waiting!

Since then, limp mode is occurring more regularly! Lately, I’ve been pulling over, shut off the truck, sit for a minute, restart, off I go! Usually holds for a few days!

Last trip, 25-30 miles, it limped 5 times on the way home! It threw a code saying 2nd gear solenoid…I can’t remember the exact wording!

I can’t go without a truck for an unknown amount of time!

It’s been sitting in my driveway for the last 2 weeks!

On a better note!

The reason I bought the PowerWagon was because I needed a truck I could play with in the woods and backroads around home, and to tow a toyhauler! The unicorn I was looking for was a ‘91 Suburban 2500! It has the 4L80E transmission! The ONLY year it was offered!

Found it!

Now I need to decide…drop the Ram at the dealer and wait? Sell it as is?

Bout time for an update !

Me personally, especially since it should be covered by the warranty…i would have the dealer fix it, regardless if i was planning on selling it. You will definitely take a big hit on sale price otherwise.

Nice find on the burb! Dont fine em that clean around here anymore!

!

This came out of Georgia! Spent its life in Florida, Georgia, and S Carolina! No rust!

The PowerWagon goes to the dealer today! I’m told the transmissions, or parts are now more available?

I’ve had offers from $27,000 to $32,000!

I love driving it, but at this point I don’t trust it! I’ll find out more in a few days!

I either sell the Ram, or my Trans Am! I don’t need 2 trucks! The Suburban has been the unicorn I’ve been looking for…since before the Ram!

I’m told the dealer is very interested in it! I’m hoping it gets fixed under warrantee! “My” dollar to fix it, their bonus to sell a truck with a new transmission and a 1 year old motor with 15,000 miles on it!
