I picked up a 2016 ram recently that has uConnect 3 but it's the old school kind with a 2 line text display and no lcd screen. While it does most of what I want (bluetooth, xm radio, backup cam in mirror) it would be nice to have android auto, a touch screen, and a bigger backup cam screen.
I found infotainment.com which has upgraded uconnect oem systems, but it's looking like $2000+ to go that route. Aftermarket I could probably do for like $700...
So I'm wondering:

So I'm wondering:
- Is there a cheaper way to do an OEM uconnect update to a newer version? Would it even fit given I have no LCD now? Can I just buy one on Ebay and plug it in?
- For aftermarket, crutchfield notes I'll have to cut things to make something fit. Anyone done this and how bad is it? I've installed lots of car stereos in my day but generally avoid having to make any permanent modifications to do so.
- Either way, is there any way to get the OEM backup camera on a new radio screen instead of in the rear view mirror? All of the sites say with the right adapters I can "retain OEM backup camera" but I suspect they may be talking about the case where I already have an LCD radio showing the image.
