Are the 2 USB ports inside center console always hot?

I have something plugged in and even with truck off and locked and waiting 5-10 minutes the device is still on and working as I can see it broadcasting SSID.

Wondering if there’s a way to move or adjust a fuse so that the port turns off when the truck is off? Or is there no way to make it cut power to the ports when vehicle is off?

I guess Ram figured you'd just unplug the device when done for the night. Leaving them hot could be for phone charging while in the store, etc.

The number 1, One, Uno, Eins, cause for vehicle fires are when utilizing any plug-able accessory port. USB’s especially get extremely warm so unplug it when not in vehicle regardless of them powering down or not.

Hmm you’d think there would be a cutoff though as if someone forgets to unplug something, drains the truck battery, and RAM gets bad publicity because their batteries are dying (when real cause is owners leaving things plugged up).

I’ll do a test later today. I’ll plug the device in, shut and lock the truck, and set a timer and check every hour if the device has turned off.

I’ve never had a problem and keep a dozen things plugged up to company vehicle on 24/7. Other guys been doin it 20+ years and no problems. In the RAM I got a dash cam plugged up to rear cig lighter I believe is constantly on and been fine. Prob depends on the quality of said USB device if it bursts in to flames or not or maybe if there’s dirt/dust in between the connection points that spark up.

We keep our bluetooth speaker plugged in to the center console USB at all times unless we're using it. I've never had an issue draining the battery. I've also never even thought to check if it is still active after shutting down the truck. I'll plug my phone in and shut the truck off and check, but if memory serves me, I've shut down with my phone plugged in and it stops charging. I only know because when I restart the truck, the phone lights up like it's plugged in with the charge symbol on the screen. I'll try to remember to check and confirm.

I checked the fuse. I had it on acc. Switched it to battery to see if it made a difference and it didn’t.

After 1 hour I checked and device was still powered and on.

At about 1 hour and 50 minutes the device was OFF. I was able to verify two different ways and it was totally off.

SO, either the truck DOES kill power between 1.5-2hrs to the USB ports OR the device itself times out. Either way, I guess it works out for me. I’ll keep an eye on it, but so far so good, thanks everyone!!
