TIP .. Anytime you tap a thread like a manifold where you have to keep any and all shavings out ... coat the tap in grease . All shavings will stick to it .

See...I have read that a # of times. And I've heard good and bad things about it. It was reccomended not to by a lot tho. The grease can actually keep the drill from doing its job (making the shaving come out instead of in) and the grease can actually push some shaving in.So we didn't. WE place a maganet under the drill and tap. Everything was fine...just make sure you take your time.

Not argueing with ya...just saying I've read pros and cons to that meathod! And I've hears that it will take a huge ass shaving to do any damage to the turbo.

Another tip that I've read is to just unbolt your turbo from your manifold...place a piece of cardboard inbetween the turbo and the manifold.

And awesome on the parts man! PM headed your way about it

On our robots we have to be careful about metal shavings getting into the electronics and causing shorts so we magnetize our bits and consistetly dip them in oil to hold the shavings
You just have to be careful drilling speeds as the oil can work harden the area and you'll never be able to drill through

I know, I know, it isn't my Cummins, but I was excited to have finally gotten extremely close to the end of the teardown of my other project...

1986 Chevy K20
3 years ago me and my buddy bought this as a project while I was still away with the Marine Corps. So we got to do a little work here and there every 6 months or so when I was home on leave. Since I have been back more permanently, work has really progressed.

When it was purchased

Instead of creating a new thread for one picture, I will just post it here.

Just thought this was a cool angle

Took a trip out to Braydon's today to pick up a new body for my Chevy and while I was there, I got a couple things thrown on my truck that has been sitting around in his garage waiting for me.

I got a Skyjacker steering stabilizer thrown on

Also finally got the AFE Stage II on that I bought from Dave a while back. It sounds AWESOME, like a fighter jet. The throttle response and spool up is much quicker and more responsive, especially while towing

Dang that's awesome...haven't tried the bumper yet?

Haha, not yet. My future plan is to put a sport cover on it and paint it to match. I've been too busy with school, work, and the Chevy to really mess with that yet. I might plasti-dip it black temporarily but I haven't decided
