I have a 96 Ram Sport, 5.9 - 360.

When I bought it, (once in a blue moon) it wouldn't shift into overdrive, I'd have to stop and turn it off and turn it back on, and it'd finally go in...

I pressure washed the truck the otherday and kinda hit and missed the undercarriage, responded to a fire at 75mph plus, everything g was fine. Now as soon as it shifts into overdrive it vibrates like crazy. until I speed up. Turn od off, and it doesn't do it.

The bands have just been tightened by the dealership (supposedly) fluid is as clean as could be.

Any ideas? I drove it the other day and I think it was making different noises at idle, but I'm not too sure. I pulled a spark plug and it looked good. Anyother ideas? Like me knocking off a sensor with the pressure washerer anything ?

Chances are, if it goes away when you increase speed or turn off OD, you have a misfire.

When was your last tune up? If you don't know, or can't remember, do one.

Well that is interesting. It sounds like a possible balance issue. But the bigger question is why does it only do it in OD. I'm thinking it may be either driveshaft has a lost weight or maybe tires. Possibly trans but not sure. How soon does the vibration start? Can you tell what part of the truck it may be coming from?

I replaced spark plugs, wires, distributor cap (pain in the ****) and rotor button. All is well right now! I'll update again in a week! And my pinion seal is leaking, is out modern level of difficulty to replace or should I take it to a local shop? We have the tools (we race dirt late models)

If you can work on late models, you should be able to work on this truck. Find a Dodge FSM on the internet somewhere, that will have everything you need to work on it.

And good job on getting rid of the misfire. If it ever comes back, there is a TSB that addresses plug wire routing to keep them from crossfiring.
