Just bought a Forest River 36mbq 5th wheel. It is 42ft long and gross weight is 14415lbs. I am looking at 2020ish Ram 3500 crewcabs 4WD with a long bed. I cannot decide whether it should be SRW or DRW. Both have more than sufficient load carrying capacity needed. I would prefer the SRW but can anyone give me a good reason to go with a DRW?

I usually ask the questions of how much towing will you actually do? Are you talking about pulling it to a campground an hour away a few times a summer, or taking it out of state every month? Big difference between going 500 miles down a 65+ mph interstate versus 30 miles down a 55 mph highway.
No doubt a DRW is "better" for towing that size trailer. In any case you could do it with a SRW truck, with a DRW simply feeling more stable and secure. I have a friend that has a huge fifth wheel toyhauler that is probaby heavier than that and pulled it cross country with a SRW 3500 with no issues.

If you plan to use it in deep snow, mud or off road, for sure get the single rear wheel. Duallys suck on anything but pavement or high grade gravel roads. They are also a pain in the ass to park or drive in town. Paying for 2 extra tires at 400 a pop is no fun either, unless you have a real good reason to need the Dually.
