Yeah put a lumpy comp cam in and Tsp mds delete lifters in just so I won't have to deal with that again. I'm very happy with the outcome and it's more fun to drive. [emoji16]

What did it entail to delete lifters? Need a tune to delete mds?

Lifters were just drop in and if you have a tuner you an shut the mds off with that. I got a pretty lumpy cam so I needed to get a tune just so it would idle, in most cases if you get a cam that mostly matches the stock profile you wouldn't need a custom tune. I hated the mds idea from day one so I had it shut off as soon as I got my tuner. I have a feeling people are going to ask this, Mileage isnt bad from stock cam but at this point its hard to tell seeing as I'm idling it for winter warm up and winter gas sucks mileage too. I'd say I may have lost one mpg out of it but Havnt been able to confirm yet.

Side note I'm thinking about an underdrive pulley so this may bounce me back into the mileage I lost with less engine component load.

Not sure you should do an underdrive pulley Brandon. If you idle the truck to warm up the engine and interior be forewarned your underdrive pulley might slow down the water pump enough it won't really get toasty inside while idling at -30

Ooh that is true. I actually didn't think of that. Good call rick! I definately think it would make a good difference for power though hey?

wow bud, no need for that warm. Yes, if you put transmission in neutral it turns fluid, it doesn't do it in park, with rfe's. With the 8 speed I would believe the same unless someone knows otherwise. Do me a favor, sit in the truck on a cold morning once and put the truck in neutral and set evic to tran temp. My bet with the 8 speed is that it will heat up pretty fast, like a couple minutes. Your fluid is like a 0w16 and is pao based, meaning it has very good cold performance.

I don't know for sure if the 8 speed cycles fluid in park, but I will back up Brandon about them coming up in temp while idling in park. Both my wifes A8 2016 Challenger and my truck will both warm up the tranny in park at least going by the evic on both. But whether that's from fluid circulating through the tranny or just from the coolant heater adding heat to the oil i'm not sure.

Not really, most guys with one don't really notice much in the way of a power gain, the biggest gain with them is the fact the engine runs smoother.I don't have one on this truck, but I've had them on other engines in the past, and they usually slow the water pump down enough, staying warm inside a vehicle while it was idling at -30 wasn't usually great unless you had your "thick" longjohns on,lol

I don't really beleive in doing that myself. Truck has ran for almost 20 mins already (I remote start mine too) and once my transmission temp registeres that it's warmer than outside temp or warming up ur good to go.

Considering as soon as you start the truck the transmission is cycling fluid through it its already heating up and moving the oil. It's like anything cold just take it easy and no hard launches it'll be fine and get up to its operating temperature with time. Don't quote me on it but I Beleive the 8speeds actually hold gears longer when it's colder to heat the oil faster, that's just what I've noticed with mine so don't hold me to it.

The transmission does not move fluid unless you are out of “park”

Sooooooo after long siting. Throw it in neutral for a few seconds before shifting to drive?

This is what I do

Put the E brake on and throw it in “N” right after you start it. Neutral does not put a load on the engine so it can still do it’s “high idle”. Leave it sit there for a minute or two then hold the break and throw it into drive for a short period, maybe 15-20 seconds. Then reverse for 15-20 seconds.

I Especially this when it is very cold out.

Neutral only will not flow fluid through all of the passages. Technically it wont if you don’t throw it in every gear but that is kind of silly. So i just do Neutral, reverse, drive.

I'm not sure the 8 speed is like that,it might have the pump running even in park.I'm just going by my wifes A8 Challenger,as the cars don't have the coolant heater on the 8 speed like the trucks do,and it'll warm up sitting on the driveway idling in Park, albit it doesn't warm up as fast as my truck does, but it does warm-up while idling in park.

The wifes car hasn't been started in over a week,so this morning I decided to check and see whether the tranny would warm up while idling in park.Outdoor temp is 21F this morning and it idled for a little less then 10 minutes while I brushed the snow off it,and when I jumped back in it to check the tranny temp it had already rose to 81F,car never left park or moved a tire,so it appears the 8 speeds will warm up while idling in park. The cars don't have the coolant heater either like the trucks do,so that rules out the coolant heating the tranny fluid
